It’s a Lemmy post. Maybe you followed this community? I don’t use Mastodon so I don’t really understand how federation works between the two.

Communities seem to appear basically like a user, and a post in a community looks like a "boost" from that user. if you look up @gamedev@lemmy.world on your instance that's where "we" are.

You following the community would've been my guess as well. Or maybe you followed a topic like "Warren Spector" or "Deus Ex" or something?

I really should start using my Mastodon.gamedev.place account to post here anyway. I just never bothered looking into it...

@Jeffool i don't know how to do either. only thing i can imagine is that the server admin made it so...

ah i figured it out! didn't see on my phone, but on desktop, the post has a #gamedev tag, which i do follow
