What doesn't fit here?
The core of the story has to be technology focused.
- If article mentions "AI" in a sentence and then talks about business economics that doesn't make it tech news.
- Gaming is too many layers removed from technology. There are many dedicated communities that are a better fit for it.
- Transporation is too many layers removed from technology. EVs while use many cool technologies have many dedicated communities that are a better fit for it.
- Entertainment is too many layers removed from technology. While sometimes it can fit here, business or cultural aspects of it are a better fit for dedicated communities.
- Cybersecurity. While it heavily focuses on technology, most of the time it's too technical for most people who are not already invested in it. Should be posted in a dedicated communities unless it has broader connection to other tech areas.
Post guidelines
Title format
Post title should mirror the news source title. If you don't like the title of article, look for an alternative source instead of editorializing it.
URL format
Post URL should be the original link to the article (even if paywalled) and archived copies left in the body. It allows avoiding duplicate posts when cross-posting.
[Opinion] prefix
Opinion (op-ed) articles must use [Opinion] prefix before the title. Opinion articles refer to articles that their publisher doesn't explictly endorse.
Country prefix
Country prefix can be added to the title with a separator (|, :, etc.) if the news is from a local publisher who doesn't clearly mention the country.

Why? I really want one I dont have to think about again. USB c charging.
Hell I wish they would make a mouse that recharges from movement and clicking.
Logitech have a solar keyboard that is allllll I want.
Batteries do not last forever.
These dodgy companies have it far too easy with apathetic consumerists. No wonder the world is on fire.
How about AAA batteries that are charged by the device with USB-C?
I'm not sure of the advantage, docking the device instead of putting the batteries in a recharger? The batteries do not need to be charged that often anyway, and that would increase the cost of every device, as opposed to just buying one charger that should last for a very, very long time.
Putting batteries in a charger isn't difficult.
Batteries of a mouse don't need to be charged that often. But how about flashlights, headphones and the like? Internal batteries have their uses. Even with a mouse, you could still use it while it charged.
I guess that would depend on how often you used the torch, for me rechargeable batteries last for years in them.
My headphones have a cord, because logic (for my use case anyway). I have no idea how long batteries tend to last in cordless ones.
So with the mouse, what you are saying is that you could use it while it was plugged in with a cord?
Ah jesus as if its that simple, one size doesnt fit all.
I am all for consumer regulations, I just have a preference for what I am currently looking for. A solar keyboard is niche and cool.
Options. Your preference is fine honestly. Options simply don't exist though. That's the problem.
Why do you believe good options don't exist?

I did that thing called "look for options" and came up completely empty.
And we live in a supply side economics world so not really.

Exactly, make then make two versions and add an ewaste charge to non replaceable. They are making two versions of everything anyway.
There are things much more important than your preferences
If it was all just about my preferences, we would all be using corded... better, simpler, less waste.
And consumer tech would never progress.
Trying things is good R&D is good. Bringing things to market is good. If it is wasteful address it but outright banning is a bit heavyhanded. Stick an ewaste tax on it and mandate that no matter what the minimum price difference between the models has to be the value of that tax.
Non-replaceable batteries are bad, but they are far form new, they have already been tried and are known to be deliberately anti-consumer, which is why the eu is doing something about it. Every single person does not need to buy ewaste for something to be known as ewaste.
Consumer tech would have progressed a great deal more if consumers had standards. At the moment it has just gone from bigger number better, to put ai in the name. Tech is meant to be better than that, sustainability is a massive part of long term viability due to finite resources.
but you will have to think about it again when the battery dies and won't recharge
