Glad to hear people like it because I thought it was really cool....
...But not having that European easy bank import option and having to manually download your sheets and import them is probably why I didn't stick to it very well...
...but then again it imported those sheets like magic so there's that!
Since the last big update you can enable experimental support for enable banking, which support quite a lot of European banks!
Oh sorry, what I meant was there's a standard to do that with European banks, yeah, but US banks don't have it, so you gotta manually download and import stuff. At least that's how it was last I checked.
Something fish, something fin? I forget what it's called, but there was some integration I found for, like, $2/month(?) and it worked pretty well from what I remember. I think this was around 2 or 3 years ago.
Every few years, I try installing Actual Budget, and have my wife compare it to how she uses YNAB, just to see if we can finally make the switch to fully self-hosted. Plus YNAB has become obsessed with new features and new customers while ignoring many of the issues that still haunt those with legacy knowledge of the platform. All while continuing to raise the price.
SimpleFIN, I currently use it and it works well
GoCardless or Enable Banking don't work? I see both on the Actual Budget website. One doesnt take new customers? Weird
I'll have to look again, I should have specified I'm in the US but it used some kinda integration that was common for EU banks but not US ones, so I had to import reports manually.
Oh, Simplefin does that. Really solid.
I had the same issue. Then I found https://sure.am/ . It has easy bank integration amongst others. Been using it for a bit now.
I looked quickly, but didn't see an answer. Does Sure.am let you download your transactions into something like Actual or Firefly-iii or is it all within the hosted platform? I saw an option to self host, but didn't see the integrations.
I'm trying to find something to pull into my firefly-iii instance and am currently abusing the Monarch API but it has some issues. I also wrote my own scrapers but they are fragile and I'd rather just integrate directly with plaid.
Maybe the website makes it hard to find, but it is completely self hostable. Here is their GitHub: https://github.com/we-promise/sure
Providers that are in the app are: Lunch Flow, Plaid, SimpleFIN and Enable Banking
You can also import directly raw CSV and others
