Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.
Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.
Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.
Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.
If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.
Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.
If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Let everyone have their own content.

He said in the past that the reason he didn't renew his contract with comedy central was because he would suggest something outrageous, and the next day all these republicans would be like "YEAH!!! LETS DO THAT!!! THAT MAKES A LOT OF SENSE!!!"
And no......it never did. The absurdity was the joke. The right took the joke, didn't get the joke, and ran with it as a serious idea that they liked. He said that he no longer wanted to be the guy who inspires stupidity.
Happen the same thing with Starship Troopers.
Theres like 7 movies lol. It’s on my list of “really?! There’s no way there’s that many” movies. 7 there are 7.
~~The author that wrote the book is genuinely a fascist and was pissed at the tone of the movie.~~
edit: I was way off on this the author died before the movie came out
Robert A. Heinlein died 9 years before the movie released. He was many things, but fascist he was not.
Yeah I was wrong.
It's very telling about the state of the internet that I'm genuinely happy about someone being honest about having been proven wrong.
I love it and aspire to be like that when that happens too.
haha yeah someone else asked for a source so i started searching and as soon as i found out i was wrong I updated the comment. some people have too much ego about finding out they are wrong about something
Like I said, excellent and refreshing, ty
yeah. but how did you get to the point of calling the author fascist. that has to come from somewhere
i'm pretty sure i saw it on reddit years ago
I remember that going around the internet 5 years ago or so.
Dude invented powered armor 4 years before Iron Man ever showed up, and it didn't even make it into the movie. He should be pissed
he was robbed. also he died years before the movie came out lol i'm an idiot
Do you have sources for this? I'd be interested in reading about that
I have no idea where I came up with that I was wrong.
Reading several of his books, he believes in the everyday capable man of doing things and has a libertarian bent to him. That's from reading a lot of his work and finding similarities in it. I wouldn't say he was fascist but at that time he was probably vogue for the politics at the time.
I think he just liked playing around with political ideas. His books don’t have much of an ideological through-line (is “women are hot” an ideology?).
He timed his contract expiration to match Letterman's. He really wanted to take over the Late Show, a move that paid off.
Literally Poe’s Law in action, but applied to real life where the sarcasm is extremely apparent.
Do you have source for this?
