And might I add that not one person complained until db0 went internet Karen with his hissy fit because I took his toy away from him.

"Not one person complained about my explicitly obfuscated blacklists! Damn internet Karens making a big deal!"

That post max crash out. Homie included a way to turn it off like a company hiding the cancel subscription options and expected everyone to love it. Like bro if you want to filter everything out thats what your block list is for. Also, he plainly did not mention why it was obfuscated to such a degree and acted like it showed you everything.

And he called it the toxic filter. Like, dudes higher on his own farts than I am on mine. That is hard

I finally found myself but I honestly feel like this is a list of frequent users more than anything.

It does raise the question of what's left once you're done scouring out all the shit you don't like.

I occasionally visit in incognito to see what I'm missing. And I'll admit... mostly bad memes and reactionary hot takes. But I'm blocking maybe a dozen channels and twenty odd users. This block list goes into the 3k range.

In my experience, once you get rid of all the people who are willing to voice a unique opinion, the people who are left are the ones make superficial one-liner puns. One of the great things about Lemmy is it's usually a discussion, not just an upvote race like Reddit is.

yeah, when i started using lemmy i started blocking every chungus i disagreed with. then i realized i'm a pretty big chungus myself on a bad day, and there's like a hundred of us who use this regularly. if i block someone who's just having a bad day that's diminishes the experience here, but if i block someone who's always having a bad day (i'm not naming names, but there are a few) it improves the experience.

i think i might have fifty users total blocked (mostly bots and trolls i hope), and i've added maybe ten in the last year. 3k is just stupid.
