Beautiful.
Trying to properly evaluate Schulz can be one of the most elusive things ever IMO. At times his content can seem like little more than an exercise in skillful comics layout, but lacking much evidence of inspiration, wit, insight, or simply deliverable comics humor.
At other times, he captures 'kid-logic,' or some borderline-dark aspect of humanity, or other cutting-aspects that were hardly done in 50's comics, not unlike pioneer Walt Kelly.
I believe writer-curator-producer Mark Evanier recently published a collection (or essays was it?) of Peanuts material, and that's gotta be some fascinating stuff to read if he gets in to analysing Schulz.
