Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

You are a horrible parent if you have a gun anywhere near your toddler.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 51 points 1 day ago (10 children)

You're not wrong, but guns are a civic religion here in the US. There are lots and lots and lots of guns that are easily accessible by toddlers.

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 30 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Always (and I mean always) lock up your guns

[–] Not_mikey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 32 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Typical elitist liberal, where am I supposed to get the money for this gun safe? You want me to sell my brand new f-150?

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

Yes, yes I do, on account of it being stupid.

[–] Phantaloons@piefed.zip 2 points 14 hours ago

Sell the guns!

wait...

[–] 01189998819991197253@infosec.pub 6 points 23 hours ago

No. Don't be stupid. Use a credit card. You can have both, while playing for neither.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

That would be nice.

[–] harmbugler@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Not much point having them if you never take them out of the safe.

[–] bobs_monkey@lemmy.zip 1 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

From locked safe to locked transport bags to locked vehicle compartment.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 1 points 17 hours ago

Their whole shtick is that they need it for home protection. Doesn't make sense from that point of view.

[–] NotSteve_@lemmy.ca 4 points 19 hours ago (3 children)

Aren't guns supposed to be to fight tyrannical governments or something in the US? Where is that? I've been told by Americans that all the gun deaths were worth it in the case of what is currently happening there

[–] 0x0@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 hours ago

Watch these 3 in sequence, they'll make a lot of sense out of the murican fascination with guns.

You misunderstood. The tyrannical government they talk about is democracy.

I wish I was joking.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

Yeah, that's all just bullshit. A thought-terminating cliche.

But a pretty good one if your toddler knows how to unlock your safe and operate a gun. That's pretty impressive.

[–] Anonymous_Leaker@lemmy.world 1 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

Would be very shitty. If your toddler get your keys, and actually knows how to unlock a heavy safe that also has a fingerprint sensor.

[–] Dojan@pawb.social 3 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (1 children)

Hurm duuhrr acyually your toddler needs a gun presnet to develop natural immunity, because there are no vaccines for guns checkmate. /s

I'm amused anyone would downvote you for making such an obviously correct statement.

[–] Anonymous_Leaker@lemmy.world 1 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (1 children)

If you have to have a gun, just put it in a gun safe. I get that there are so many dangerous places in the USA or places like Mexico.

[–] Dojan@pawb.social 2 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Don't think everyone having guns is going to make things much safer. That said, I don't really have a horse in that fight.

[–] Anonymous_Leaker@lemmy.world 3 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

When the governments have guns and you don't. That isn't safe. And crazies also like to go to places with gun free zones. It is always better to have a gun when you know other people already have them.

[–] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 3 points 23 hours ago

While true, that's not relevant, good parents and non-parents can also get killed by toddlers with guns.

[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 2 points 23 hours ago (6 children)

You are a horrible parent if you have a gun ~~anywhere near your toddler~~.

You are a horrible parent if you have a gun anywhere

Could have stopped there.

[–] TaterTot@piefed.social 6 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

You are a horrible parent

Could have stopped there...

Oh fuck, that reminds me... gotta go!

[–] PhoenixDog@lemmy.world 3 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago) (2 children)

Not sure if you're talking about me or not, but I don't live in a country that requires a firearm at all times because anyone can buy them 2 for 1 on sale at Wal Mart, and also I would make an awful parent which is why I don't have kids.

[–] TaterTot@piefed.social 5 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

Oh sorry, I was actually trying to make a self deprecating joke about myself. Or actually a hypothetical version of myself that had kids and was a bad parent.

Which is why I added the whole "talking about being a bad parent reminds me that I had to go take care of my kids" outro.

Clearly I'll need to work on my material.

[–] PhoenixDog@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Lmao no worries! OP is being a massive cunt and had to block him so I wasn't sure of the context. All good, friend <3

[–] Anonymous_Leaker@lemmy.world 0 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

Blocking people just because you were completely wrong about guns, and who you don't agree with. Of course. Just live in your echo chamber. That's very cunty. You don't understand that real drug dealers have guns, you know, like the cartel.

[–] Anonymous_Leaker@lemmy.world 0 points 21 hours ago

He thinks real drugs dealers don't have guns lol, how adorable.

[–] Squirrelanna@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 18 hours ago

I think the comment was tongue in cheek and self depricating :P
