News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

Glad i left reddit for lemmy tbh.

I’m in the process of quitting Reddit. It was weird, some person commented dozens of times and started reposting the same question on the same comment because we disagreed. After I asked the person to leave me alone (I know… I was naive and hopeful), they commented again with the same question multiple times, I told them to fuck off. I got flagged by Reddit for harassment and now I’m shadow banned. It’s basically made the app useless to me. I don’t get why that’s a policy, if they’re banning my account they should just tell me and give me a chance to appeal or just block it. Instead, they operate in this weird gray space of making the experience terrible so you just leave. Sad because I enjoyed a closed community there but the general mods are just the worst. Lemmy will probably be better for my mental health though so silver linings :)

sounded like AI/bots are doing it. i wonder if reddit allows bot so they can ban users critical of certain "agendas" as a bait.

It's because they hope you won't notice it happened so there will be less work for them dealing with your complaints or new accounts. Even for people who aren't fully shadowbanned, when their comments are removed it's done in a similar way to hide from them that it happened. Reddit is designed to make sure admins and mods are not accountable (to the users) for their actions, and silence anyone who objects.

its because they used AI to ban people, they want to deal with the fallout of a false positive, thats why they gave vague bot message when you site wide banned.

I got perma banned because i said indian truckers. I didnt even bother to apeal it lol reddit was becoming like a warzone. Couldnt say anything with out someone taking offence.

appeals are pretty much useless anyways, even if did try. less than 1% gets unbanned by a admin, and only if they think thier ban was in error. they ignore majority of the appeals, because AI moderation indiscriminately bans people, so they dont have the amount of energy to unban them all, barring people who purposely violating TOS, or have multi accounts with thier bans lifted in the past.

Same, but I'm still encountering this same issue here. Does any instance not allow redactions/deletions? I know many are obsessed with perfect flawless curated feeds, but I kinda miss old internet days where redactions were nonexistent essentially

Honestly wondering if you don't want deletions why not 4chan? They basically only remove illegal content.

[–] arctanthrope@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

yeah but then the people you're talking to are 4chan users

[–] Kirk@startrek.website 3 points 1 day ago

Pretty close to getting it!
