I usually downvotes emojis on Reddit, but this one was needed.
Lol. I jump between the two so got confused there I see.
Nothing wrong with emojis. But there is something wrong with doing this ππππ π€£π€£
Wait, you... didn't know this wasn't Reddit, despite all the different instance domains in every person's comment? Do you use some kind of fusion Reddit+Lemmy app or something? This is really interesting to me, how that was even possible to happen.
i don't read ppls names on this... i could see how you'd assume you were on reddit
Yup. I just ~~don't~~ can't even notice them. That is way too much effort with ADHD.
Ha, fair. I'm always reading usernames (since some of them can be clever), instances, and communities.
I use Relay for Reddit and Summit for the fediverse. I especially picked Summit because it is very similar in look, feel, use and features as Relay, which I already really enjoyed using.
Huh, ironically, I left Summit partly because I found its search system to be too obtuse and it had some pretty bad account-switching problems as well, even though it sure has a lot of capabilities. Theming the apps helps, though ultimately it boils down to reading the domain names of the instances (and usernames) since I'm always curious about the sources of content. I even set Thunder for Lemmy (which also seems to have a very robust draft system in the event of app crashes) to show "@" in front of usernames and "!" in front of communities to drill it home since that formatting is different from Reddit, so I see it all over the place.
If FOSS matters to you, consider Slide for Reddit! Otherwise, Relay looks decent... I'm surprised it was able to get past that API restriction drama that Reddit's leadership imposed...
Relay payed up. It's a payed app for users. Shamefully I pay more to Spaz than the Relay dev team.
Summit also has the @ etc in user names etc. but you see ADHD is a hell of a thing and I just ~~don't~~ can't notice those things when reading comments.
Oh and oh. *Paid, by the way (even though I think that's a unique spelling in English anyway... which is dumb).

Holy hell that's convoluted. There are waaaay too many meanings for pay.
There are some really weird emoji though, e.g. what's are these ones for π«¨π³οΈπ«π§±ππ I cannot work out what emotion or concept these particular symbols are supposed to indicate.
The only ones I ever really find useful are the hand gestures the facial expressions (although God knows what that first one is supposed to be), and the national flags.
There's also some Japanese character ones which I assume might be useful if I knew what they said.
Highly agree. ππππ€ππ€
That's nearly it.
Some very special cases can occur though where I might use π±or π€·.
Otherwise it's usually just :) or ;). But damn Microsoft for automatically changing them to emojis.
The first one there is a shaking emoji. Perhaps it could be used in response to an earthshaking news or something. I'm sure you could run searches of all of these and get the exact text descriptions from the official, global emoji standard.
... and then report back to us, lol!
How dare you speak the name of the Cursed Land
Emoji is a place?
