A spokesman for Waymo told the Daily Mail the car was being manually driven at the time โ€“ and that the driver involved had been suspended.

This reminds me of the shit Tesla did: operate in autonomous mode until a fraction of a second before a crash and then disengage, placing the blame on the driver once the computer determined a crash was inevitable.
