Zoned out here. Sounds like digging for a pretense for a retaliatory ban and that escalated. From the 2 minutes of attention I gave this it sounds like everyone involved needs to touch grass.

Seems like it would be pretty simple for the Lemmy or piefed or whatever instance software to just returned the text of the post on that URL
IDK/not qualified to say if there's a good reason it doesn't, but I think it would be convenient for a lot of folks if it did.
PieFed.social's server farm just raised their prices through the roof, so I assume the disabling of ability to access it without a login is related to that. Hopefully a temporary measure.
Most other PieFed instances still allow you to see posts without a login - see e.g. https://piefed.zip/c/yepowertrippinbastards/p/1415029/lw-banned-me-and-defederated-an-over-murder-all-zionists-in-my-display-name.
Funny, I get to see the text, but on piefed.zip, so my instance. The link also points to piefed.zip instead of anarchist.nexus Maybe anarchist.nexus is a piefed instance and it doesn't play well with lemmy? Might be some kind of bug.
Or it's simply because of the defederation. Might be the most reasonable explanation.
All PieFed instances automatically translate links to any other instance into one that works on your own instance - where you can vote & respond with your logged-in account. It is a highly requested feature, desired for many many years on Lemmy but so far available exclusively on PieFed (perhaps some future Lemmy software release will catch up).
To get around the automatic translation, instead of just "clicking" the link, copy the link instead and paste that URL into a browser.
sigh Linking to posts and comments really is a massive weakness on the fediverse.
