Here I am crying about trying to do a workout routine. I think I make it a month at most before I break a day, and then it's like this strange horror to even try to pick it back up.
I like rowing though, because the other folks in the boat make it so the childhood trauma induced need to not disappoint others pushes me to get there before them.
Probably not too helpful, but what finally got me somewhat consistent was having a "real" reason to go. I got super obsessed with a sport (volleyball) and wanting to play better gave me the drive to go to the gym somewhat consistently.
I've never been able to keep a regular workout schedule. I have had some success with weight lifting by just lifting when my muscles don't feel sore. If I feel like crap or too tired I rest. It's nice because it makes it easy to tell if I should exercise, just "is this muscle/my body recovered enough to work again?"
