The only thing intimidating was saponification, which was the point of dropping that word. Otherwise the rest was mundane.

Unless you know that sapo- means relating to soap. As in sapone / savon / săpun / σάπων / сапун / صَابُون / صابون

Saponification is a process of cleaving esters into carboxylate salts and alcohols by the action of aqueous alkali.

Even if I knew that sapo- meant relating to soap, I don't know enough about soap or chemistry to know how that sentence relates to soap.
