It’s extremely important to remember and talk widely about the republican capture of US media - this is exactly the point

They scream and scream for weeks about nothing, then bury the real news. It could be the path to fixing america

We need pirate radio

We need pirate radio

Eh, what? In the old days, the means of mass communication were limited or expensive, so sure stuff like pirate radio made sense.

But nowadays, anybody can start an Internet radio station for very little money. Or a YouTube channel or whatever. The problem is people not listening, not that they are prohibited or prevented from listening to you.

That means nothing when the search engines and algorithms don't let them show up.

[–] 8oow3291d@feddit.dk 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Well, yes. But how would a pirate radio be any better?

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 0 points 4 days ago

No idea, but the youtube and internet radio aren't solutions either.

That doesn't stop people from sharing it with other people, you don't have to use megacorp services.

We need pirate radio

This is how we got in this mess to begin with. Talk radio, then podcasts.

Well I guess at least some pirate radio would be saying "Did you know it's illegal to say that we should kill the president"

Can't be worse than every station being owned by Sinclair and ClearChannel anyway

[–] lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Republicans are how we got in this mess. We need to leverage similar channels if they’ve proven to be effective

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It's ultimately a both sides issue. The Republicans did this shit and the Democrats did fuck all to stop it.

I'm not saying both sides are the same at all. I'm saying that both sides share blame for the current situation for different reasons.

...I don't know, man. I bootleg content and have adblocker. Since the only media I'm exposed to is social media, I'm only bombarded with left-wing propoganda.

[–] lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Tankie opinion from a 1week old account?

Suspicious

[–] village604@adultswim.fan -2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Maybe they're talking about tankie propaganda?

[–] BygoneNeutrino@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

I'm just telling you how it is. I'm pretty sure alot of the seemingly democrat propoganda on places like Lemmy and Reddit are actually Republican propaganda.

If a bot farm says anything that is perceived as pro-Republican, they will probably be banned immediately. It's a waste of their time and effort. I believe they get around this by posting unhinged pro-democrat messages; the moderators don't delete it because it is seemingly pro-democrat, but it drives undecided voters towards the Republican party.

... just you wait. As we get closer to the next election, this and other platforms will be overwhelmed with aggressive anti-police and pro-gender fluidity messaging. I believe the technical term for what is happening is "false flag operation."
