I am FOSS-friendly? How can I do better?

For me firefox, or rather fennec, runs really well. What issues do you have? Maybe open a bug report after checking if others have similar problems. Maybe your specific performance issues can be fixed by someone with programming socks?

'+ 1 for Fennec

Can't use apps that require google play services.

Trying fennec now. Seems much better than last time I had it installed.

I'm running a modified Light phone 3. It's a bit of a janky setup but it's definitely been an interesting tinkering project

Have you tried microg to allow gapps to work? Or is that just not something you want to do?

No microg.

It's difficult to function in society these days without a smart phone, but I wanted to fully move away from Google systems and big tech in general.

I try and use mine as a phone(call/sms/MMS) and mp3 with limited functioning otherwise. No social media apps; browser only if I do access them. FOSS for everything.

Having a non google platform for browsing is so helpful. A basic search function is hard to live without.
