Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Majorites have supported stricter gun laws for a while now but our government doesn't care what we want

[–] comrade_twisty@feddit.org 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Majority of your dumb fuck voters elected this government knowing full well they’ll do nothing to curb gun violence.

Which oddly enough was only the second time since Bush 1.0 Republicans scored a majority of voters. The bigger nuanced items for any non-Americans to understand is that the president is not elected by a popular vote. The Electoral College votes for president. That is comprised of electors selected by each state dependant on how the popular vote within the state turns out. The number of electors is based off congressional representation. That is determined partially/loosely by population for House Representatives plus two for Senators. So our least populous state, Wyoming, has 3 electors at a population of about 590k. Our most populous state, California, only has 55 electors and a population of 39.4M. So the ratio of population to Electoral voter is 197k and 716k respectively. That means for the same amount of influence in a presidential election, California needs to match 716,000 voters for every 197,000 Wyoming voters. This issue is horrifically lopsided in favor of Republicans.

I'm pro gun. The issue seems to be the faulty foundation we live on that gets worse everyday and leading people to snap. Like... We live in a shitty system that makes life fucked up and inhumane for people, why wouldn't they flip their lid? It almost seems like it's on purpose, and it's becoming more clear that our government doesn't care about people.

Not to mention many people watched and harassed by feds somehow still manage to do mass shootings. It's like a bully egging them on. In the end they profit from it. Antagonize a lone wolf until they commit a crime and profit. They could use all their tech and money to actually reform people but instead they do this. It's all psychology and marketing for patriotism and to grow support behind the American brand, which is then used as a tool for shitty people to use for influence. Human can be and are written off like products that don't meet quality control.

As it is now though 2a is bullshit because there's no way our puny guns could go against the American war machine.

America isn't even a real democracy anymore. How long are people going to deny that and overcome the surreal fact it's all basically corrupted an bullshit, completely. Once you learn the marketing and psychology you can't hide from the truth. America is owned and will remain owned regardless of political parties. Key parts of our governments are employing people that use the nation as a tool and don't care about the nation as a nation outside of their interests. And the corruption isn't just infecting America, the intelligence networks working with USA also get corrupted. It's almost like CIA and Mossad are working up a global coup. And both are holding america hostage. There's a reason maga is spreading to Canada.

Oh if only the majority voted for the lesser of two evils... or if the subhumans whom chose to not vote at all did not exist...
