Women only trans inclusive This is an inclusive community for all things women. Whether you're here for make up tips, feminism or just friendly chit chat, we've got you covered.

Rules…

  1. Women only… trans women are women, and transphobic or gender critical talk isn’t allowed. Anyone under the trans umbrella (e.g. non-binary, bigender, agender) is free to decide whether a women's community is a good fit for them.
  2. Don’t be a dick. No personal attacks, no aggression, play nice.
  3. Don’t hate on groups, hatefilled talk about groups is not allowed. Ever.
  4. No governmental politics, so no talk of Trump actions etc. We recommend Feminism@beehaw.org for that, but here is an escape from it.
  5. New accounts or users with few comments may have their posts removed to prevent spam and bad-faith participation.

I'm more of a youtube person myself. Here's who I watch:

Hannah Louise Poston has great vids on how to develop your personal style. She does vids on makeup too, if you're into that.

Christina Mychas helps with style too, but focuses a lot on minimalism and organization.

Stylish Curves does a lot of clothing hauls, which don't really interest me, but I like when she does videos about general plus size fashion, or telling us about black-owned or sustainable brands.

Beepworld. I have nothing in common with her personal style, but she has a lot of good tips on making use of what's in your closet and saving money. She's also the one who turned me onto Indyx, which I love for organizing outfits (will do a future post on that).

I'd love to know if you have any recommendations.

I've been thinking about getting a manicure and getting something sorta pearly and opalescent, it's light and I guess reminds me of the ocean.

Anyway - what nail styles do you all do for summer, what are the 2025 trends?

April is stress awareness month. There's so much pressure on mothers and so much criticism and parenting is one of life's biggest challenges. What helps you manage it?

Watched a good tv show? Handled a task well? Really helped your child with something? Whatever it is we want to know!

Chief Kachindamoto has broken up 850 child marriages in three years, and banned the sexual initiations of young girls.

Old article, but a very cool lady I admire and want to highlight.

Found this channel that fills the goth-knitting void I didn't realize existed. Really like this and her part 2 video, very fun for adding to the ravelry favorites board.

Someone in a different thread was asking for alt-fashion stuff, so I hope this helps a bit if you're a knitter or willing to learn! It's a great pass-time to keep your hands busy :)

Could be you want bits of X but with elements of Y. Could be there's one who you'd love to be like overall. Share it below!

Apparently short nails are a fashion statement now as opposed to a thing that just happens because you work with your hands too much and your thyroid is underactive - uh, I mean they're totally short because I AM A CONFIDENT WOMAN. But I've always envied women with naturally long nails, and enjoy looking at other people's professionally manicured nails.

Jean jackets are pretty versatile. What would you wear with it?

Hope this is allowed here?

Here's a really cool article in The Guardian today on Shirley Manson from the band Garbage (my favourite band, and Shirl is an absolute goddess!)

She talks about being a music icon, misogyny and hip replacements..... and they have a new album out!!

I've always loved her no bullshit down to earth approach to life 🤘

Also, it's really weird, but nice having an icon from my youth talking about things like hip replacements, I still think of her (and myself) as being in our 20's and indestructible, when we're now both older, peri and post menopausal, and still rocking out

I'm hoping they tour, I missed the last one

Anyone else her love Shirley and Garbage? Or PJ Harvey, Bjork, Tori?

What's something you want to achieve this week?

This is a really fun way of narrowing down your personal style. Designed by stylist Ellie-Jean Royden, the system helps you "define 3 core elements of your personal style, fuse them with each other and your body type with every outfit you wear."

There's a quiz on her website. If seeing example outfits is more helpful for you than a theoretical quiz (it was for me), don't miss these pinterest boards.

So what are your style roots?

It's something we need to do sometimes to stay safe. What are things you've said?

Iron kids uniform? Batch cook? Psych yourself up? And are you doing this alone?

Is it food? A person? An activity? Tell us here!

Got your friend through a rough time? Raising your child well? Mentored someone at work? We wanna know!

It's often a small thing that shows it... what have you noticed?

Someone writes a comment with a sentence that starts the story. Another person replies to that with the next sentence and so on. Let's see how many literary geniuses we have!

I’ve noticed that working with other women in an office can be weirdly difficult sometimes. Like, why is there so much tension? I’ve had way smoother work relationships with male coworkers, and I’m just trying to understand what’s going on.

Some stuff I’ve noticed:

  • Jealousy – It’s like there’s always some silent competition over looks, attention, or even job performance.

  • Competition – Instead of building each other up, it feels like a “who’s better than who” vibe—who looks best today, who’s boss’s favorite, who’s getting ahead faster.

  • Age stuff – Older women sometimes act territorial, and younger women can be kinda cliquey. There’s not always a sense of mentorship or support—more like a power struggle.

  • Attractiveness – If someone is considered really attractive, it causes all kinds of awkward vibes—sometimes subtle shade, sometimes straight-up coldness.

  • Lack of support – I always thought women would have each other’s backs more, but it can feel like everyone’s just out for themselves.

  • Passive-aggressive behavior – Instead of just talking things out, people gossip, throw shade, or give the cold shoulder. Super draining.

I’ve worked with some great women too, don’t get me wrong. But overall, there seems to be this weird undercurrent of competition and tension that I don’t really see with guys at work. Is it insecurity? Society conditioning us to compete instead of collaborate? Just curious if anyone else has noticed this or experienced something similar.

Let’s talk about it.
