"Who approved this?" is one of the top five scariest, three-word emails you can get.

I don't know why I went into Belter creole for the title.

From "Star Trek Picard: Firewall"

Still on TrekLit and out of my re-watch schedule, so trying to make some jokes from that.

Edit: Added alt text.

Note: I'm not casting all Republicans as a "skin of evil" here; I feel many of them are just people trying to make their way in the world whose daily struggles and fears have been amplified manipulated by the "skin of evil", an administration that constantly denies human rights and demonizes (as well as convinces its followers to partake in the demonization of) people who, for the most part, are also just trying to make their way in the world. I've known Republicans, and while the people they give their support to frighten me, most of the ones I've know aren't demons.

EDIT: To be clear, I’m not saying Republican voters did nothing wrong, that they don’t deserve consequences, or that we should avoid making them feel bad. In many ways, the “skin of evil” is their collective wrongs and the way they enabled the current horrors. The evil, however, is a subset of a person (sometimes almost the whole set, though), while the “skin of evil” is the set of evil. Also, I admit I feel a bit on the availability heuristic and that “most of the ones I know” isn’t the strongest evidence.

Edit: Re-upload. Beltran should be facing the audience.

"Take Me Out to the Holosuite" didn't become my new favorite episode or anything, but I did enjoy it after years of skipping it because I got bored with the baseball plot the first time I saw it.

I also always skipped VOY: Initiations and had completely forgotten Aron Eisenberg was in that one until the last re-watch when I opted not to skip any episodes.

Context: I always wondered what the mural in Quark's was. Have read through the first two books of Deep Space 9: Millennium, and the novel offers two different (non-canon) possibilities. Also, it's difficult to meme from TrekLit, but I'm trying here.

Personally, it looks more like a Tholian to me but I like the implications of the alternative.

Mild SpoilerGul Dukat procured it when he was in charge of Terok Nor. It was so large, the only place it would fit was Quark's Bar, so that's where it went. Dukat was proud of it, thinking it was a slain Tholian admiral. Rom laughs and later tells Quark it's actually a depiction of Tellarite genitalia and is used to denote pleasure houses in the red light districts of Tellar Prime. Quark doesn't know who is right, but he and Rom always salute the "Admiral" as a joke.

One downside of TrekLit is, while it may inspire meme ideas, I can't just go to Trek Core to grab a still for it. Until I'm back on my regular re-watch schedule, gonna have to improvise like I'm doing here.

Also, this screenshot is from days ago, and I've since finished the trilogy. If anyone wants to discuss ST: Destiny and the origin of the [spoiler redacted], I will happily start a thread in !startrek@startrek.website
