Patty crouches with her eyes closed next to a tree stump. She says,"Forty-eight, forty-nine, fifty! Here I come, ready, or not!"

She runs off and says,"Ha!! I see Charlie Brown!"

A puzzled Charlie Brown hides behind a tree with his head sticking out on either side of the tree's trunk.

He frowns to the reader and exclaims,"Rats! How Did She Ever See Me Here?!"

Violet sits at a table filled with baking utensil and a plate of pie. She says,"If Charlie Brown doesn't eat this mud pie, I'll never make him another one!"

She walks up to Charlie Brown with the plate in hand and says,"Here, Charlie Brown, I made this especially for you..." He is sitting on the floor playing with his toy-boat and looks back at the pie.

As he walks off, she asks,"Where are you going? Aren't you going to eat this mud pie?"

He stops and replies,"Sure, I just thought I'd better wash my hands first!"

He walks up behind Patty, who is sitting on the floor reading. He points to her back and exclaims,"Hey, Patty! There's a spider on your back!!!" She drops her book and shouts,"Brush it off!!! Quick!!"

He falls on the floor laughing and shouting,"April Fool! Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ho, Ho, Ho! What a joke!! Ho, Ho, Ho!" She looks down at him and replies,"April Fool's day was yesterday!!"

As they walk along the field, Patty replies,"Of course not, but you also shouldn't marry one who is too old"

Violet sits on the ground and asks,"How about twenty-three?" Patty stands thinking and replies,"I think that's too old..."

She sits in front of Violet and concludes,"When men get to be that age, they're usually pretty set in their ways!"

He walks off and retorts over his shoulder, "So what? Can't a fellow feel sorry for himself?!"

She kneels, plants the seed, and replies,"Sure, we'll plant this acorn now, and an oak tree will grow right here" He says,"Well, I'll be...."

She stands, looing around her in confusion. She wonders,"Now, where did he go?"

He reappears with an axe and looks at the area where the seed is planted. She exclaims,"Hey! Get away from here with that!!"

Shermy is running and he yells "Hey, Violet!"

He retorts,"Well, I'd feel a whole lot worse if the dinner spoiled my dessert!"

They stoop to pick some flowers and Patty says,"The trouble is that you first have to be a wife, and then you have to be a mother..."

They walk along with the flowers tucked in their hair. Violet concludes, "I know it...it's all those preliminaries that get me!"
