Once there is text in the "body" field, clicking on the emoji panel clears the "community" field but does not show up the emojis

Hello everyone,

Just something that crossed my mind: should we have a Reddthat matrix room? Could be useful to chat, and have a fallback place in case Reddthat encounter service disruption :)

Just tried to crosspost something, once the target community is populated, all the fields (title, URL) get blank

Hello,

I started getting this this morning, I guess this is due to the latest update.

Should be easy to reproduce, for instance with that link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_O74AVDl-Q

Has anyone else been getting long page load times (like ~10 or more seconds) frequently but intermittently over the last couple days?

Double post bug? (reddthat.com)
submitted 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) by Blaze@reddthat.com to c/community@reddthat.com

Hello everyone,

I noticed that starting today, once I will post something, there will be a small lag before the post is actually created, leading me to click twice on the "Create" button, creating double posts.

Am I the only one experiencing this?

mlmym (the "old" interface) was updated on GitHub recently with changes that should fix the broken orangered notification envelope and the user profile sort order issues.

@ticoombs -- when you have a chance, could you please look into updating mlmym on reddthat? Thank you!

It used to look, well, black, but now I'm seeing this, which is a bit hard to read... Did the theme change recently? I'd love to goback to my white-on-black look if possible...

Its so annoying not being able to downvote. Just enable them

Recently we have been smashing my internal goals for Reddthat.

  • โœ… Fix the beta issues plaguing the site
  • โœ… Fix the database issues for upgrading (oops)
  • โœ… Fix LemmyWorld federation
  • โœ… Finalise a new release for lemmy-ansible
  • โœ… Solid uptime & page speed loads (baring the unfortunate beta issue, which unless we had found would have made it into production for everyone)

With all these stability changes now done, I am looking at ways in which we can improve Reddthat further and we are open to any ideas so please feel free to post away!

I'm toying with ideas to use the local only community feature to provide a point of difference in the landscape of Lemmy servers. Weekly events? New communities?

Either way I'm enjoying some coffee, drafting our monthly post to go into more details on the LW federation, and hopefully finding some time to enjoy some autumn sunshine!

Cheers, Tiff

As we are running the latest and greatest Beta currently. This post will be a list of all known bugs & fun things that we are dealing with.

Please comment if you have a bug so we can help make the next Lemmy version.

Known Bugs

  • Video links are not embeddable when they have a thumbnail. Issue: (UI-#2418)
  • FIXED: Local and All pagination (Clicking Next) results in 25-30 seconds load times. Issue: (Lemmy-#4618)
  • Federation with LemmyWorld
    • We have created a server in Amsterdam which is close enough to LemmyWorld where we can ingest all of the Activities, and then batch-send them to Reddthat. Currently it is performing very well. It is still early in testing but all signs point to solving our activity backlog issue!
  • Private messages are broken #2439-ui

For the past 3 days I have trouble logging in reddthat using jerboa. I am able to log in to other accounts, including LW. Also, I am able to log in reddthat with the web app and Eternity. When I log in, I get a message Illegal input field, public_key is required (the full message is not visible).

I am using a password manager so I am sure I am using the correct credentials. I have reinstalled jerboa and deleted all data.

Anything I can try? Anyone else facing the same issue?

Edit: I have tried every version from 0.60 to 0.65, some of them I have used successfully in the past.

Hi, are there any reddthat members submitting to the #Fedivision2024 contest?

If you are planning on making a submission, let us know. I would be happy to support members of our community!

There seems to be federation issues with Lemmy.world.

Far too often, lately, I see lots of people worried about the number of downvotes, or making preliminary justifications and requests to not downvote particular posts.

Me? I don't have to think about any of that. The content of the posts and comments determines their quality, not some artificial number that only represents whether people dis/like something.

Edit: Wow, a lot of people from other instances seem really offended that I don't like downvoting and seem a bit confused that I'd be thanking my admins for something I appreciate.

If you like downvoting, you don't have to move here. Enjoy your instance's features. Welcome to the Fediverse.

My only conclusion is is that some banks use some feature built in PDF Readers to prevent the printing of a PDF, by covering parts with black bars.

The issue does not appear when using other software like Adobe Reader or Microsoft Edge, to print the PDF.

Is this a form of DRM? I want to know how it works whatever is causing it, and be able to remove it from the PDF itself completely.

Why does Firefox obey this DRM crap, while Edge has the balls to ignore it?

Hello,

By randomly browsing a discussion on !fediverse@lemmy.world, I just realized I wanted to come back to the real use of downvotes (which was first a user-level moderation about spam, and actually shouldn't exist anymore as we now have the report button).

So I'm back here on Reddthat, happy to use an instance without downvotes!

@ticoombs@reddthat.com

I tried to upload an image, but got the error IO error: Os { code: 28, kind: StorageFull, message: "No space left on device" }

I'm assuming it's a different storage area than the main database, otherwise this will fail too...

Hey Reddthat mods,

Is there a mechanism to report entire communities? I found one that appears to be

trigger warningpro-pedophilia
but it's the lone mod doing the posting, so sending a report will likely be ignored.

It's a community on this instance.

I've mostly been using the Sync app (which shows a downvote option everywhere), so I didn't notice the lack of downvoting until I was spending a lot of time on desktop yesterday and saw there are actually no downvote buttons anywhere ๐Ÿ˜ฎ on Reddthat.

I've since tracked down what seems to be the Reddthat policy discussion around this issue, which also made clear that even if I downvote content from another instance through a 3rd-party app like Sync, because I'm doing it from an account on Reddthat (which has downvoting disabled), my downvote doesn't go through!

This sucks. ๐Ÿ™ Downvoting is an essential tool for users to help keep their communities on-topic and discourage bad behavior. It lets people take action against ignorance or bigotry without feeding the trolls; minimize people trying to derail discussions or be obnoxious in the comments; and prevent memes, sensationalism, and low-effort posts from flooding communities meant for thoughtful discussion.

It's unfortunate that lemmy doesn't support disabling downvotes just within specific communities yet, so this wouldn't have to be such an all-or-nothing policy, but as-is this means making Reddthat my home instance has restricted my options and given me less of a voice everywhere within the lemmyverse.

@ticoombs@reddthat.com, is there any chance this policy will be reconsidered? So many comments in the previous discussion seemed to agree that downvotes are a valuable and desired feature. It doesn't seem like that feedback has resulted in any kind of policy change yet though. Was a specific decision made after that discussion to keep voting disabled, or has it just been stuck in a wait-and-see state? Would it be possible to change this?
