Don't you all kind of hate it when the unknown is this unknown? I mean, I know that a completely known unknown is way more boring, but I'd also like to know just a little bit about the unknown, just a little to pique my interest, or at least to assess how risky it is to head into that unknown...

I admire your character's bravery. If I found an unknown unknown, I'd be terrified to even be 5 meters (16ft) from it. (Once again if it weren't that unknown, I'd consider it.) But your character has the guts to (possibly) risk their life for what is yet to be discovered. I wonder what is their motivation, though... Or is there none? People sometimes just get sucked into unknowns without any way to espace, I hate it when it happens...

I'd say you can fix that by realizing that the world was already on fire anyway and that there's no time like today to start appreciating yourself. Once you do, you'll find more inner strength to survive and help others survive in this burning world, and you'll almost certainly find way more inner strength than what you might be expecting.

The world will keep burning, but unfortunately there is no time to cry about it. What we must do now is grab the fire extinguishers and get ready for a hell of a ride. We need people with resolve, self-confidence and determination, and feeling good about yourself definitely helps with that.
