I think the Strata set was a Chinese set sold on Amazon. Not very popular, nor well liked.
You can find decent clubs on marketplace or offer up (which is where I bought all mine, ~400 for everything). For example, I have the TaylorMade R9 Supertri that was $40.
Older irons have more loft, but it's not such a big concern in the beginning, and you can add a wood or hybrid to get distances. I'd look for something that's clean, complete, and somewhat known (TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, Srixion, Mizuno, Maltby).
A putter is very personal, so go to a shop and try out different classes of putters (mallet, blade, etc), then buy a cheap one that's most comfortable.
Finally, don't worry so much about resale, as most clubs will lose value as the years move on and technology changes.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
I'm 59 now, and a cancer survivor. Also a man.
I look back to the me in my twenties, and think what an ass I was. Not as a man, but as a human.
The positive aspect? I'm not that ass anymore, and my hope is in another ten years I'll see the current me as an ass.
