I assume it would be both jus soli and jus sanguinis

If you a born there, you were a Californian Citizen.

If you were there when they declare independendence, you were a Citizen (similar to the US Constitution, where everyone became citizen of the US if they were in tge 13 colonies at the moment it came into force, even if they just arrived from England).

If weren't there when they ratify the New Californian Republic Constitution, and you weren't born there, and you don't have parent's born there, then you'd probabaly not be a citizen.

They'll probably also look at CA state tax record and might give citizenship if you've lived there for X amount of years preceeding the ratification of the Californian Constitution.

I think its also possible California doesn't become an independent country, but form a different "United States" with other Blue states.

Do it. Become pope.

US Constitution, Article I, Section 9, Clause 8:

No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.

No more presidency for you, dumbass.

(but then again, the constitution doesn't seem to matter any more so what do I know πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ)

Fun fact: There's technically a right to free speech in the constitution of the People's Republic of China. But we all know how that goes.

Just like with any rule in any society; without enforcement, they are nothing but merely the words of people. ahem USA ahem

What even is the point of "representing your district" if they could just nominate a random person from across the country that never before stepped foot in that district?

When I read the premise, I was instantly hooked, on the plot not characters, but eventually characters too. Never even turned it away. I was dealing with an existential crisis at the time and that why I loved it.

Oh maybe I'll try again. I was kinda turned off and stopped before the end of season one.

I mean, go ahead, arrest all democratic governors. More supporting evidence for asylum claims.

Maybe California would finally become a republic, and perhaps become the new "beacon of freedom" (well it was better than the last "beacon of freedom" anyways)

Invade? More like form a union. The Germany-Italy type.

So... my phone was out of battery, so I pulled out my power bank and connected the cable to my phone, but then I was feeling like I'm connecting two parts of an explosive device, I instinctively said, loudly:

"BOMB PLANTED"

Now the entire plane is staring at me like I'm some sort of criminal.

For me:

-The Expanse - The beginning was confusing AF and the politics didn't make sense and seemed boring, so I quit. But then eventually after like a year or two, went to reddit and it was recommended again, so I just read some light spoilers and that helped me got through the first season. And then it has been an intriguing and thrilling journey.

Why boycott if I can just pirate it?

I get to enjoy it and they don't make any profit from it.

Heck, I'll seed it and cost them even more profit. πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈπŸ˜Ž

If the government is willing to spend the effort to investigate, they'll find that deleted comment you posted 10 years ago criticizing the government.

But if you want to find your lost files after your cloud account gets suspended for vague "ToS Violations", I hope you have a backup, because good luck trying to get the cloud provider to send you a copy of your files.

It might be out there, but not for you.

Unless you convince a government to try and get it for you. πŸ€”

Especially considering the fact that your country's politics could change in the future.

Going on an honest rant against the regime seems very dangerous.

This question is common throughout the internet, but I'd like to see Lemmy's response.

The country you end up in would be random, you don't get to pick.

This is a carrier in the USA (T-Mobile).

I did a quick search for the other 2 carriers using the term "[Carrier Name] Family Tracking" and Verizon and AT&T also seems to have it.

And according to https://www.t-mobile.com/support/plans-features/t-mobile-familywhere-app, it says:

FamilyWhere uses geolocation data from the T-Mobile network and is not affected by changes to device location settings.

So it appears that its using cell tower triangulation. Turning on Airplane Mode should stop it (assuming there isn't a separate tracking app on your phone)

Oh Wow, What a wonderful tool for abusive spouses and abusive parents. And telecom companies are making money off of it. πŸ™ƒ

TLDR: Its a good idea to get your own separate cellular plan.
