I have a tinfoil hat conspiracy theory that the Love is Blind/Married at First Sight shows are part of this. You've got a not so subtle focus on religion and marriage, a blind eye towards sexual assault, and Vanessa Lachey pestering past participants if they're popping out a progeny anytime soon.

Just in case you didn't know, Cara Cunningham is not a dude.

Not exactly a citation but it was pretty weird when someone found one of the DOGE staffers' participation in a hackathon around vote manipulation that got him real close with Musk as a result. Then he started wiping his connections once it was made public.

It really shouldn't be news, but remember....there are most likely a lot of morons out there who would still be shocked to hear about it. The ones who don't like to talk or read about politics, the uninformed voter. These are Americans we're talking about.

Same kinda thing as EUMETSAT, AFAIK

Mostly unrelated, but holy shit, it's taken me about a decade to realize that's why the play is called M. Butterfly and this comment just did it. I just never really thought about the title, but the ambiguity makes sense.

They have distinct blinking patterns as well. IIRC observing the pattern is one of the ways used to classify them.

TIL that's also the guy on the "hot fries" bag in the grocery store.

Either that or have it upside down, signaling distress and emergency.

That's the thing that's confused me a bit. Project 2025 definitely calls for the dismantling and privatization of NOAA, but I didn't see anything specifically mentioning AccuWeather. IIRC the CEO of AccuWeather said it'd be way too costly for them to pick up all of the responsibilities they depend on NOAA for. At this point, I'd fully expect Musk to say his companies can handle it.

On the other end, you've got billionaire Jeff Lawson rescuing The Onion from private equity hell. I count their revived print subscription as one of the best things I've spent money on recently, considering it used to be free.
