I 100% agree with you there.

I would imagine "we're cops" was much easier to say than "were secret federal agents sent here to detain you because you said something we don't like".

Shitty situation all around and it's painful to watch this happen. I'm ashamed to be from a place that screams freedom but has consistently shown that freedom only applies when you meet certain criteria, on top of all the other shit that's happening.

Are you serious?

They might not be cops, but that was quick and efficient with almost no interference. Actual cops would have just laid her out and detained her with excessive force. What you saw was trained professionals. They surrounded her, overwhelmed her, arrested her, and quietly walked off with her.

I'm not defending it, but they knew exactly what they were doing and it went exactly as they planned it to go. Quietly.

Did you expect some kind of movie style abduction, roll up screeching tires in a panel van and 10 guys jump out and toss a bag over her head then toss her in the van and peel out?

Ok, yeah.

Fell asleep last night sorry.

I did the following for that. I just went and double checked it and it is set to what I want it to.

[Service]
User=username
Group=groupname

Ok, I'm not entirely sure what happened but it's working now. Just restarted my computer and it didn't revert.

Strange.

Nope, I'm running ext4 on pretty much everything.

Interesting, was there anything in particular that you did with the services other than editing the service to run as those particular users?

Side note, I just tried to chown the sabnzbd folder and everything inside updated but the main folder itself refuses to change. Even after stopping the service.

Edit: scratch that. I closed and re-opened Dolphin and checked the properties of the folder and now it's showing correctly.

I'm still working on learning about containers but not quite there yet.

Default being, when each service is installed it creates an individual user/group (sonarr, radarr, sabnzbd) and the folder that is created in /var/lib/ for each service is set to those particular users/groups.

At this time, sonarr and radarr seem to be ok (I will need to double check after an update to them) but SABnzbd reverts the folder permissions every time I reboot and complains whenever I reboot since it can't write to the db or log files because the permissions change. I have looked at the config but didn't see anything outstanding that would indicate a reason it would be changing. Unless I am missing a different config file somewhere outside of that folder. There aren't any settings from within the web interface pointing to that either, at least from what I could see.

I'm trying, and struggling a little bit with getting the three items in the title setup the way that I want.

Running Arch.

I would like to run Radarr, Sonarr and SABnzbd all under the same user/group. My reasoning is that I (am just being overly particular) want any of the files created by those services to fall under the same owner/group. This is easy enough to accomplish by running systemctl edit service.service and adding the appropriate lines in the configuration for each one and saving it so the services run using the specified user/group.

The issue that I'm having is that the correlating folders in /var/lib/ have the ownership of the original users. I can manually change that ownership to the user/group I want but if I reboot the computer the SABnzbd folder ownership reverts back to default (the other two were doing the same thing but suddenly stopped and I'm not 100% sure why) or if the services get updated, the folders will also revert back to their default user/group.

Is there a way for me to enforce the ownership of those folders to the user/group that I have set to run the services regardless of them getting updated or the machine rebooting?

I would take the whole thing out short of the side up against the house and put a decent wood picnic style table, a fire pit (if that's allowed where you're at) like one of the steel ones raised up off the ground and use the extra space for growing veggies and stuff.

Depends on what you want though.

Are you wanting to repair/replace it and have that whole patio area or are you willing to do a bit more with the earth underneath it?

You could always do like you said and use pavers or gravel some of the area too and still reclaim some of the ground underneath to use for other stuff.

Yeah, wireshark is a good start.

Something else to consider but requires a different device would be to add a firewall (something like a Protectcli device running OPNsense) between your modem and router and set it up to block the outgoing request and see if it breaks something, or at the very least if you're concerned about security, you're blocking that specific traffic while you troubleshoot the cause using wireshark or some other method.

Are we forgetting the actual model names?

Macbook Air - Mine is A2337. They do have arbitrary model numbers for all of their stuff too. Guaranteed they do the same thing with their pens, pencils, and other stuff. It's just that most consumers rarely pay attention to them. To be fair though, most of the apple model numbers I've seen are similar to what I said above which is not nearly as bad as how they do TVs lol.

People comment because the foot to body length ratio looks weird. Not because he's "short". 5'7 isn't short. It's not tall like someone that's 6'5 but it's not short either.

I grew up in the Bible belt and had religion shoved down my throat until my early teens. I'm agonistic, bordering atheist. More on why I brought that up later.

You may just be starting to read between the lines and see that things that make no sense. The rules that are designed to control, to keep people in line.

DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO WITH YOUR LIFE. WHAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU.

My wife is from a Muslim country, but happens to be from one of the few Christian majority cities there, her family aside from her dad are all pretty religious. My wife was also quite religious when we met. I have always been open about my position but respected hers with one caveat that we ended up agreeing on. Our child will not be indoctrinated into religion, they will decide on their own when they are old enough to make an informed decision on their own. She has been to church with him several times and they (the church) tried to make it "fun" and would manipulate things in a way that bordered outright lies to try to keep him involved. He started seeing through the bullshit and said no more.

Over time she has seen things that I pointed out about them (I was involved in their chat group for some time) and the hippocritical things they would say and do. She started noticing it on her own and with her own family. She still believes in God but is starting to disagree with her religion.

Her family respects my stance, her mom reluctantly so but she does see that I respect them and their choice even if I don't agree with it. So while I kinda brought my own story into this (sorry for that not trying to make it about me) I wanted to provide an example. Her family accepts her choice and respects me. They even recently flew over and spent 6 months with us. If your family has religion shoved so far up their ass they they wouldn't accept your choice to be with someone that is either from a different religion or not religious at all, they aren't worth your effort, time, or respect. Because they very obviously care more about their religion and the control it/they have over you, rather than caring about you and what YOU want or feel.

They are probably just trying to keep consistency between an AD instance and Exchange or something like that. Or just laziness.

When we generate new user accounts we run a script that generates an email (so we don't have to manually do it). It gets generated with the username of the individual which in our case would be first initial, last name. Then another alias gets generates to first.last@x.whatever and is set as primary. While the username@x.whatever is left as an alias, but would still technically work if you emailed it.

If a username already exists we will use the first and second letter of the first name and then the last name, etc.

In the above I mentioned consistency and laziness, but there is also another side, and that is your user base. If you are servicing hundreds of thousands of people or just a ton in general, consistency is very much preferred. Try having to explain to an end user that their login is simply "username" for their computer, but their email is "first.last@x.whatever" oh and let's go ahead and loop in Azure SSO so now their software license login and login for all these other portals is "username@x.whatever".

You end up with a mass of confusion. Sometimes simplicity is best when it's possible.

Edit: I'm an idjit and put 2-29-25 when it's 03-01-25. Fixed.

Preface: I looked at the rules and didn't see anything mentioning this. I know scams are prevalent and I'm not trying to perpetuate that kind of environment here. I just don't want these tickets to go to waste when someone else could enjoy the game.

I have 4 Timbers tickets up for grabs. It's really short notice and I apologize for that.

The match is tomorrow at 1930 at Providence Park per the norm. I made it to the first match but am unable to make it to tomorrows match due to catching a nasty flu on the way back from the last one lol.

Tickets are through SeatGeek so I'd either be sending a link generated from that. I can share the code through DM or through Signal. Or for a more secure transaction I can directly transfer the tickets but that requires me to have an email or phone number which I know is a bit much for a lot of the Lemmings out there, myself included, but I will do a transfer since that eliminates the pull back feature and you can be sure that you have the ticket for your own peace of mind and lack of potential wasted time.

Section is the lower 222 level with a clear view.

I'd imagine that it's awfully hard to scrounge up 4 people so I will just give one to each person that asks first, unless the first person asks for two, three, or all of them, but please make sure that they will all be used.

I would like to get rid of some of these random audio outputs and options but I'm not sure what to do.

I am using Arch with KDE and have no idea why there are so many options for audio.

It can be a pain to get the mic and headset working like it should (with the mic) and having all of these inputs/outputs is quite frustrating.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone has any experience with Unified Remote, I could use a little help.

I'm in the process of making a button board for ATS/ETS2 Truck sim games.

I have everything working except for one button.

I am trying to make the button dual function. I press it once and it holds down a key, press it again and it releases.

I can get it to hold the button down fine, but I'm having some trouble getting it to use a secondary function to release the key. I can just hit another button on the board and it stops which is fine, but not really as graceful as I would like.

I did read through their GitHub documentation but I don't see any info on specifically what I'm trying to do.
