Thank you, I am. Ditching IT completely was a very wise decision.

Steamrolling schools is from the Microsoft Playbook. They started this with their abysmal products 2 decades ago. I happen to know this because I worked in school IT for 10 years. Giving away your software to the underpaid education system presented two major advantages: bind the young ones to your environment while showing state officials how much your business is "interested in education". And make lot's of money by fooling every decision maker in the process. It's a dirty play and I saw some very nasty deals, very close to corruption. Apple does this as well, handing out tablets left and right. And now we will get a package with ChatGPT, fantastic.

Once you do this long enough, you can write a book or two about getting started... Here are my personal favorites:

  • Cannabis is a weed. It will grow everywhere, if you let it. (Most important part. New growers often overdo it, slowly killing their plant with love. Just let it do it's thing and wait)
  • Make sure you understand the basics about substrate, light, heat and cycles of growth. Get a cheap LED growlight. Don't bother with soil/coco, start with hydroponics (it's very easy for beginners).
  • Don't invest too much money in your first grow. It will come over time.

And, of course, make sure you don't do anything illegal...or do it, I'm not your father.

GrowWeedEasy - Probably the best beginners guide on the interweb

Growdiaries - Nice pictures and lots of good info (would be cool with federation...)

SeedFinder - Strains and stuff, database with growers and sellers

Check the big seed companies websites, they have very good blogs and wikis with lots of info.

Hi, I hope someone will read this and give me a nudge in the right direction. The TrueNAS documentation is....not very helpful. (it actually sucks, because they changed so much with 25.10/SCALE)

Here's what I did: I had to replace the system-ssd of my 4/1-bay-TerraMaster because of age. No biggie, just export settings, replace SSD, install new TrueNAS Scale and import settings.

It went surprisingly well with the usual hickups, nothing too bad. After importing the old settings the pool went back up and NFS shares were there. Just a minor problem I can't fix by myself (I'm not good at the whole certificate-stuff). After the import the self-signed certificate was overwritten with the old one, without a private key. And there is absolutely no way to create a new one. I don't want to go acme or create my own authority, I just want a simple self-signed cert for the WebGUI. How do I accomplish this?

Thanks in advance.

There is parmesan in the marinara (cook some cheese rind with the sauce for that extra flavor kick. But not too long!) and in the breading. Just in case you wondered why there isn't a mountain of grated cheese. For me, there can be such a thing as too much cheese. It drowns all the other delicate flavors.

Buon appetito!

I made a new batch of seeds of my favorite strain. Bought this one couple of years ago and it quickly became my favorite. But the breeder doesn't exist anymore, so I had to make new seeds for myself. It's actually not that hard, you can look up the process involving collodial silver here.

I completely overdid it, but that was the goal. The mother was a LST-Monster from a clone, the "father" came from the last seed. Both DWC in a small tent with a 300W LED. I collected some pollen as well to put them in the freezer for little experiments with other strains.

The seeds in the piccture are obviously just a tiny fraction of the final haul. I will continue to grow 2-3 plants per year and use the rest for whatever comes to mind. Maybe give them to other growers as a gift or use them in my bird feeder. Don't like the taste though, or I need to experiment more with them in the kitchen. There will be enough, that's for sure.

I also like to point out what a silly ripoff the whole seedgame by the breeders is. I bought the initial seed from a high end breeder, something in the range of 80,-€ for 5 seeds. I will get thousand over thousands of premium feminized photogenetic seeds from one plant that I could sell for the next two years with proper storage. You can do the math...
