Went out to celebrate my friend passing her comps and simultaneously had some flirtatious fun with a friend of hers. Eating some delicious popcorn from another friend's kid's fundraiser. Going to a protest Saturday, and more quality friend time after. I am very lucky to have solidly wonderful people in my life.

I might have a job lined up for next school year. The principal at one of the schools where I interviewed emailed me to let me know he thinks I'd be an excellent fit for their school, but he's not allowed to offer jobs to anyone who doesn't currently work for the school district until May 9th. I got a really good feeling about this school from the principal and the teachers on the interview committee, and if someone in-district doesn't apply before the 9th, it looks like I'm in! But it sure is nerve wracking in the meantime.

I'll be moving in June and am interviewing for jobs in the new location. Wish me luck!

But you see then Denmark actually started the war because Trump didn't actually say "war." Because yeah. That's how that works.

I appreciate you all.

(I will preface this with saying that I'm rather high right now. But I do think the general sentiment will hold up in the morning.)

The older I get, the more I value interactions by the amount of kindness involved in them.

I've always valued kindness. Growing up, I was lucky to have good role models, so it was easy.

Unfortunately, I think many of us learn from a young age that there are many situations in which kindness is not particularly valued by others. So we don't really get rid of it, but we downplay it. It's very strange when you actually think about it.

Anyway, it's nice to be in a space where that sort of thing is actively curated. We're all free to choose to interact with people who are not kind whenever we want. I imagine that many of us intentionally do so, and that can be very worthwhile in its own way. But it's nice to be able to just be(e) and not worry about all that meanness.

I've been going on about kindness, and the rule is be(e) nice. I do think there's a slight difference, but I'm quickly losing the vocabulary to describe it. I think niceness is perhaps easier to achieve when interacting with people one doesn't know?

On Saturday morning, Johana Bencomo, a Las Cruces city councilor and the mayor pro temp, wrote on Instagram: "Part of me wanted to write that this is something you never really think this is going to happen in your city but that actually feels deeply untrue. Honestly [nowadays] a tragedy like this feels like a nightmare just waiting to come true at any possible moment, yet also always praying and hoping it never will."

Belgium and the Netherlands this July!

Just got back from a trip with my college friends. We're a bit spread out now so it's been awhile since we've all been in the same place. It was really nice, and we're going to try to make it a yearly thing!

That makes sense. I try my best not to have too many expectations for the future because you never know what life is going to throw at you, good or bad, and random chance can have a big impact on how things turn out. Having goals can be helpful, but it's good to be realistic about what's required to achieve those goals and what can potentially get in the way in order to decide if those goals are worth pursuing.

Interesting! If you feel like sharing, what changed?

I didn't realize how much I needed this. Here you go in case you do too. <3

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask. (I was originally going to post in [email protected] but it looks pretty inactive.) I'll be in Rotterdam in July and am hoping to buy a single day ticket to the North Sea Jazz Festival. The website says they go on sale 1 February. My guess would be that the sale will begin at 10am CET since that's when the 3-day tickets went on sale in November, but the website doesn't actually specify what time the single day tickets will go on sale.

Does anyone know from past experience what time the single day tickets go on sale and also how quickly they sell out? I'd rather not have to wake up at 4am my time on a Saturday unless it's actually necessary. 😅

I remember when I first figured out I was bisexual. It was pretty cut and dry

oh wait no it wasn't; that's just how I like to remember it.

I'm getting similar messy vibes around nonbinaryness now and then. Everyone is kinda nonbinary, right?

I recently got to visit Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and do a couple of incredible hikes. Here's the second.

Hey, just wondering if this place is still trying to chug along or if there is a more active hiking community out there. This is the best I could find when I did a search. Happy to contribute to the best of my ability if this is what we've got!
