Wezterm is much better with SSH stuff, better tab and pane management, more customization than Kitty and if you have an issue with Wezterm the developer, Wes, isn't going to chew your head off for bringing it up he's actually a nice guy.

of course they asked him about multiplexers. I still don't agree with his opinions on the matter but I've seen way too many people argue the point with him in issue threads which is just pointless as he'll usually just devolve to insulting their intelligence. Guy is an asshole.

That being said even as far as tabs and panes for terminals outside of zellij or tmux there are much better options than kitty. Yes kitty has tabs and panes but they're clearly an afterthought implementation that Kovid included just to please the masses. Wezterm does a MUCH better job overall than kitty in just about everything. Terminator is great also.

I just don't bother with Kitty because heaven forbid you have an issue with it and post about it Kovid will make you feel like it's YOUR fault his terminal isn't working correctly.

I had the opposite problem than you. Games would work fine on Wayland but on x11 due to my laptop setup (discrete nvidia, AMD iGPU) games would do pretty much the same thing. if I toggled/tabbed away from a game for more than a couple minutes going back to the game would result in a black screen or just show the desktop but the game itself would still be running and not frozen.

For almost a year I would just trouble shoot it off and on but figured I just had to settle using wayland. Then a linux yuotuber named TheBlackDon suggested that I give gamescope another shot when running games through steam. I had tried it like a year ago and it didn't work so lastnight I decided meh I'll give it another shot. It worked. games work again on x11.

All I can suggest to you is try using gamescope. If it worked on my weird niche laptop setup there's a good chance it might work for you. OR if it works on x11 then maybe just use that? I wanted to get off wayland so bad because there's just so many annoyances getting stuff to work on wayland, even copy and pasting with some programs, that now I'm happy I can finally ditch it.

she doesn't. it's a part of her grift and like all right wing grifters she's altering course so she ensures her grift stays out ahead. The Midterms aren't going to go well for the MAGA cultists within the party (hopefully) and she sees that and is starting to steer her boat well away from the rest of the MAGA fleet in hopes she doesn't get caught in the broadsides.

mentioning EA games like Apex Legends removing support is laughable. Sure Alistair, ALL those EA games ALL decided around fall of 2024 to ditch support for Linux/Proton. All at the Same time. Not because EA has a deal with Microsoft/Game Pass and NOT because a few months later Microsoft announced their own Handheld with Asus. Just like Riot.

So Alistair how long until Rust is announced for Gamepass with all DLC included?

please, tell me why I'm wrong. I'm not a fan of immutable distros as I feel they're limiting but I'd love to be convinced otherwise.

"even if it's spelled out right in front of their face."

Brave of you to think these people can read.

Bazzite is like a easy newbie introduction to Linux. It's really hard to mess up Bazzite, like really hard. In the same regard it can also be a pain to install anything outside of their ecosystem. If you run it with Distrobox it's not a big deal but I don't see a lot of new users going that route. If you're just looking to browse, stream, and game than Bazzite is perfect and you don't need anything else. Beyond that? Distrobox or use a different distro.

I tried Bazzite, I didn't like it, I found it too limiting but I do see the appeal of it.

it's fine for average users but if you really want to use it for something other than browsing or gaming you really have to use it with Distrobox. And that's fine, bit of extra work to set up but honestly if you're going to use something that is beyond web browsing, streaming, and gaming you're probably going to go with a different distro anyways.

yeah the battery life was horrible. it would eat 6 AA batteries like they were candy. I only ever used mine when it was either plugged into the wall or plugged in the cars cigarette lighter which my dad hated cause he smoked.

not sure what you're asking? it's a WM, you run it as a WM just like you would run any other x11 WMs like i3. you install it, you add it to your .xinitrc, you do startx from a TTY.
