On my main laptop I use KDE, it's smooth and gets the job done. On my tablet, I use GNOME. It runs well, and is touch-optimized. On my other laptop, I use gnome for no particular reason.

validating the integrity of the installation

The ISO file should be validated, and many installation medias check hashes.

it can be disastrous if you don't pay attention to what you type in

Valid point, even I get nervous when entering dd.

I don't think that dd alone should be used as a backup

Absolutely it shouldn't. I said primitive backups, which are not a replacement for things like snapshots. DD backups are space-inefficient, easily corruptible, and often result in broken systems.

My favorite TV UI:

Yeah it's a great game in every aspect...

This looks nice but what license does it use?

I feel like for the most part though using something like balenaEtcher is so much easier.

Take 5 minutes to learn to use DD, and you'll never need to install etcher again. Also DD can do primitive backups of drives, and so much more.

I'm not a vandal, but...

I only play a certain part of games, I don't care for rpgs or top-down games as much as I like first person shooters, racing games, or simulation games.

With that being said, here's my list.

  • Red Dead Redemption 2: The best game I have ever played, hands-down. It's story and gameplay are both perfection.
  • Trepang2: A less heard of game, but a really fun first-person shooter which is like a mix of Crysis and Doom.
  • Mafia 1 and 2: A great series with solid stories and gameplay, these are very enjoyable to play. Just don't buy Mafia 3. It's like if Ubisoft made a Mafia game.
  • Arma III: A classic military simulation game which I spent hours on hours in. I love exploring the maps while engaging in realistic shootouts, especially with mods like ACE which make it even more realistic and immersive.

Hear me out... Hololens runs "Windows Holographic System," which is based on regular Windows. Would it be possible to run GNU/Linux on the glasses? If so, that would be fucking awesome, though I'd imagine the hardware support would be lackluster.

Funny it's uploaded to catbox.moe

I say lemmiers because we are partaking in the act of lemmying

Anyone know of some libre tactical shooters? I really can't find anything, just wanted to ask the community if they knew of anything. Closest i've found is either Unvanquished or Assaultcube. At this point of my search, I'm ready to accept that there might not be a game.

Edit: It is! I got the WiFi replaced and functional.

I need a confirmation that this is an accurate diagram, I have a A+E-key WiFi adapter, and I need to use it to replace a E-key WiFi adapter. I cannot find much information about compatibility, and need some confirmation before I stick my adapter in a type-e slot.

I've made this poll due to a debate over the definition of "base" Android. I consider it to be the AOSP, but I would like other's inputs on it. Thanks for voting!.

It was indeed a rickroll...

I know I can spoof my useragent, it's just ridiculous that such a massive app doesn't support an equally massive browser.

I've got a pretty old macbook pro, I would assume it's intel. I'd installed refind and debian on it then just left it for a while. No damage that I know of, but I did move houses. Now, I plug it in and the power cord shows green, and the battery indicator shows blinking fully bars. I have tried all the keyboard things to reset, but no luck. Is this thing fucked, or are there any possible solutions? Thanks for the help guys!

So I distinctly recall reading a reddit thread where someone woke up with someone else's photo on their cmf watch's custom watch face. I remember a few other people saying they had the same issue, and that's about it. I have tried pretty exhaustively to find that thread, or even any information about the issue, but I just can't seem to find anything. Does anybody remember this, or have any more info? Thanks a lot!
