There is hope. Here in Norway, we have a parallel system called BankAxept handling card and online payments within the country. Most/all debit cards are dual, and Visa is only used as a fallback. I believe lobbying for a similar system in other countries, or better yet for the EU as a whole, would be a good way to get started.

We have Grans Cola and extra cola here in Norway, probably a lot more as well, but shipping them internationally would probably not be worth the hassle if you have local produce. I can recommend club mate cola for import, its strange enough not to be too commonplace.
Welcome! I migrated when the old Reddit apps stopped working, and the grass is indeed greener on this side, except for the non-English communities.
I think it depends a lot on how it is done. Though cultures will of course vary a bit between countries, there is a group in my city that hands out coffee and waffles on the street, and only preaches to those who ask/are interested. It is amazing how well these sort of things can work if you avoid telling random people on the street they are wrong, and instead show that you are there because you care about them.
Now I dont know much about simple living as a movement, but how do you then avoid digital cluttering? At least for me, digital bookkeeping had become a significant part of my daily work.
Sounds like a good idea. Would you consider allowing EEA countries as well, to including Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, possibly also Switzerland?
Here we have prisjakt.no that cover the prices across stores for many consumer products, maybe other countries have something similar?
As someone who semi regularly needs to get obscure projects running, than you for your service!
I have good experience with a play station 4 controller, especially with the steam overlay for configuration.
I don't know the details, but if you get hired for a position here while living abroad, you can get a work visa as skilled labour. That can later be converted to permanent residence after living here for some number of years and passing some language and/or culture test (I think). I know several people who have moved here either through work or university, including from the US. Best of luck no matter where you end up.
At least the lunch, warm cantine food at work is unfortunately not as common here as in many other places.
