Funniest thing is that if EU came up with an open and interoperable standard on their own Apple would be saying it’s either bad or forced upon them and that they’d do it better.

We don’t think like that in the EU, we like free markets more than anyone else 👍👍👍

Is Pebble a data hoarder? It doesn’t share anything but is restricted from full functionality. You’re using Apple rhetoric where they’ll conflate Meta with everyone else.

It’s up to regulators and not Apple to be the nanny because Apple uses it to stifle competition. The only free market is a regulated one.

Why would you buy it then?

In this weird scenario I think your Apple hardware is perfectly safe, nobody is going to buy and pair third party devices for you forcibly.

If I want to give my data to Meta, the same way I give it to Apple, that’s my choice. If I can’t give it to Meta then I can’t give it to an open source Pebble watch either and that doesn’t sound as good, eh?

I wish we could do granular filters (apply to title, text body, per community etc). I’m using Tapestry for RSS/Mastodon/Bluesky lately and filtering system in that app pretty much revolutionised my news consumption. On top of the usual filters you mention it’s the little things like removing news pieces with „could” or „ceo says” in the title, every clickbait indicator I can come up with and so on. I might not want to mute Trump related news from Financial Times but I don’t really care what The Verge has to say on politics for example.

This legislation exists so that Apple is incentivised to develop interoperable systems. Apple opted to degrade experience for everybody rather than allow for level playing field.

IE mode was still a thing? 3 years ago I was updating ancient automations at company I work for due to imminent IE mode deprecation, huh.

This game has a horrendous stutter, don’t buy it until it’s fixed. Thankfully there’s a demo so you can see it for yourself.
