Me too i just want it to be fun and joyful showing what we as a people could be vs the cynical message of showing us how we are like post endgame Marvel and Snyder era DCEU films.

Honestly Ukraine and Zelenskyy are the only ones that get a pass for kissing Trump's ass or doing whatever they have to do to survive. The rest of the world should make it as hard as they can for Trump/Putin. I'm saying this as an American. Make it hurt maybe then the dipshits that didn't vote will do something to undo it if it's not already to late.

Yes it's always better to login with a user and sudo so your commands are logged also having disable passwords for ssh but still using passwords for sudo gives you the best protection

Just waiting for them to drop the pretense and hand out black triangles already. Fuck you Ken

Na flatpaks are lighter and have better access control. But I only use them for basic applications like games or spotify or Obsidian

They are a little heavy on disk space but nothing too bad. They don't trash your block device layout with bind mounts

Yeah I run debian too and see no issues with Deb packages and flatpak and I run debian unstable on my desktop so i am asking for trouble and don't see the types of issues OP described. Snaps seem to be the issue. I know they said they wanted Comercial support but unless you are buying a support plan now. Trying debian stable might be worth a shot. Since once it works it works for a good long while.

That's a good idea also snaps can run like hell in general but more so if memory is out of wack.

Also if they did pay for support what did canonical have to say?

Yeah so it's exactly like jurassic park.

Mostly just look at the copyright date if it's before 1929 it's public domain in the United States. You have to look up your local laws if you are outside the US. In 2026 it will be 1930 going up once a year.

I love Adrian Monk, he is my favorite TV detective.

Yeah we need more people like second wind to go independent it just sucks there is less money going around for investigation journalism to happen.

If someone is dead they should stay dead this is how art dies. It's easier to keep recycling the same time shit over and over. I want to see what the new generation brings to the table.

When having one of my bad days I think of that quote. It's was a random statement in a comicbook of all things. If you check my post history I would be considered a doomer about the climate only but I'm trying to not be.

I know i would go crazy eating the same bland flakes

I was just thinking about the word social media as a term answer how it relates to regular media.

Like what is regular media? it's someone that is paid to entertain you for money or influence you for people that pay them for power.

Now the word social media if it relates to old media what would it be at face value. It's a person that is paid to make you feel like you have a social connection with them for money influence you for people that pay them that want power.

Like what was social connections on the internet before the rise of social media.

It was forums and if we look at that word what is it as face value from the word itself its meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.

Ideas to be exchanged everyone was equal there was no media personalities no popularity contests. No followers just a group of people sharing ideas around a common interest.

How off base am I? did I miss anything in my reasoning here?

Like the question above am I just an old man that's not keeping up with the times or is terminator still a great terminal to use in 2025?

My favorite was a time my best friend and I were on the second phone line talking and took on 15 to 2 in quake 2 CTF and won.

Im looking for the internet equivalent of screaming into the void when stress gets to great and you are about to pop.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, might have breathed in too many soap fumes.

Token Ring sends the packets to every node by passing it from one node and if that node is not the recipient it passes it on to the next node.

Memos were created the day before with a list of recipients then it was passed around till everyone on the list had read it.

  1. Never realize it takes place over labor day weekend until today. It hits even harder knowing that.
  2. It kind of makes me sad not knowing how the original Bell got acess to the Net without jadzia's help. That makes me think he couldn't and It was a predestination paradox and the implication is humanity couldn't put us on a path to the world of star trek on our own and we needing star fleet to push the scales. Explains a lot for our timeline.
  3. 1995 Me: Getting the voices on the Net would fix things for sure. 2024 Me: There would be a misinformation campaign to drown out those voices and used by grifters to make a quick buck off the cause. Most would just swipe to the next youtube short/reelz/TikTok video.

Yeah i made myself sad
