The director of advocacy and legal services at Advocacy Centre for Tenants Ontario, said it's "absurd" to evict people during a health crisis that has left many unable to pay rent due to lost income.

"It's bad enough in normal times for people to lose their homes and to be treated unfairly in an administrative proceeding. But it can be life or death in the kind of situation we're in now," Hale said in a recent interview.

This is a complete rejection of reality and a slap in the face to survivors of the genocidal residential schools system.

In Canada, the Indian residential school system was a network of boarding schools for Indigenous peoples. The network was funded by the Canadian government's Department of Indian Affairs and administered by Christian churches. The school system was created for the purpose of removing Indigenous children from the influence of their own culture and assimilating them into the dominant Canadian culture, "to kill the Indian in the child." Over the course of the system's more than hundred-year existence, about 30 percent of Indigenous children (around 150,000) were placed in residential schools nationally. The number of school-related deaths remains unknown due to an incomplete historical record, though estimates range from 3,200 to upwards of 6,000.

TL;DR:

A New York Times investigation last week alleged the website publishes videos of child abuse, rape and other types of exploitation -- allegations Pornhub continues to deny, saying that "any assertion that we allow [those types of videos] is irresponsible and flagrantly untrue."

Two executives at Montreal-based Pornhub have been called to answer for recent allegations before an Ottawa parliamentary committee

Some have said the situation ultimately calls for greater government regulation.

NDP ethics critic Charlie Angus: "We will also be looking to hear from survivors who have faced the nightmare of having their images exploited online."

Canadian identity is 50% being proud of winning universal medicare decades ago and 50% being opposed to ever doing anything like that ever again.
