I think there is a certain golden rule that should apply. But also I think property rights is more focused on land and resources, rather than a loaf of bread.

There is no difference between a marine and a fed and a local cop and a politician and an airborne ranger and an ICE agent.
They will ALL do the job they get paid for.
If it wasn’t the global consensus, green tech would be free, because saving the planet would be more important than profit. Closing down cruise ships, private jets, etc.
The amount of progress we have made is next to nil on a planetary scale.
