i think gaming and online entertainment in general killed the awareness of material conditions. everything is fine as long as we have slop to watch on our damn phones.
The entire “joke” hinges on the idea that that woman’s entire worth is tied into being pretty.
Uhh no, the joke is that a lot of men see women as objects and will watch her streams solely on the fact that she is a woman that they desire to bang. But yea, no matter what lens you look at it, it's patriarchy all the way down. I think watching and developing parasocial relationships with streamers, male or female, is pretty fuckin weird anyway.

I'm sorry but not going to trust an author who has a very real financial incentive to sell a hypothesis. There are indeed numerous studies that do summarize the negative impacts of social media and smartphones on mental health, and it's also extremely true that the increase in mental health diagnosis can also, at least partially, be attributed to an increase in mental health awareness. My ADHD existed well before I got my hands on tech.
