Did anyone actually listen to Kinew's explanation? This is still recovering from the deliberate crippling and beginnings of privatization the conservatives implemented, and the NDP is working to bring the lab infrastructure out of private hands so it can be better staffed and run.

Having been a consultant sitting in those meetings where conservatives explicitly stated that intent, I am intimately aware how hamstrung the NDP were. I am also surprised by the hyperbolic spin chosen for the headline. Almost as if someone has an agenda to make the Manitoba NDP look as bad as possible without any nuance whatsoever.

Yeah. Try, "the rest of the day."

Sounds like it starting to be time to use other means to get proper treatment.

The only time privatization leads to a decrease in prices is while they are squeezing out competitors. Then it inevitably goes up while quality drops. Privatization is always profit before people. It's past time to kill that idea, and, if necessary, its proponents.

Nothing about FI threats posed by the US?! Even with the reported hundreds of millions spent in Alberta, an air base dedicated to online influence campaigns, the data centre manipulations, etc. It doesn't count if it's a capitalist nation?

I tend to think of neurotypical as the slur. Insensitive, out of touch, ambiguous communicators with low empathy and a high tendency to conform and a low ability to perceive patterns, sensory signals, and systemic effects.

Conservatives always have such a problem with science, and facts in general.

Fascism is a near-inevitable outcome of poorly checked capitalism, helped along by the poverty arising from it, along with the hierarchical ideals of corporarist environments. So yes, fascism is a symptom, and the cause is not easily solved, so the symptom has to be treated. Education, especially in critical thinking, and ideally before exposure to the fairy tales of popluar religions, alleviation of poverty, and, unfortunately, the culling of those who prove themselves too committed to fascist ideals are all part of the medium term mitigation. Since oligarchs and corporatists tend to resist these things, they have to be counteracted, disconnected from their power base, assets, and financial tools. Since that's also unlikely to happen in North America, we're looking at an unpleasant future.

Isn't most of Canada already carved up by corporations. It seems like First Nations, a couple of NDP provinces, and some leftover crown corps are all that's keeping us from being a full corporatocracy.

Maybe not just taking over the services, but the assets, as well.

It might be because people in Geneva get nervous when Canadians get into a war.

If there's a kill switch it can be hacked. If we want to fight someone the fascists don't want us to, they can use the kill switch. On top of that more money to an enemy, and the US is most certainly currently that, is tactically stupid.
