This is something I've been trying to solve, well our social.fedicate.org instance is currently invite only we hope that we can open it up to registrations in the future. We are currently settings things up to set things up correctly as the break3.social instance (the one this account users) is a business instance for projects and other stuff mainly worked on by @sam

Hopefully we see more Sharkey instance that are english based in the future as I know a good few that are english based are Trans / LGBT based what I don't think is your cup of tea (or it might be I don't know)

Fair enough, do you think that the main piefed instance is good enough or do you think you'd move to a different instances in the future but stay with the piefed software?

I find that keeping the Fediverse open to others as much as possible is a really helpful thing instead of De-Federating on the first little bad message from a user that probably got missed or is being dealt with by the system admin.

Do you feel you will change in the future?

I know there's been an okay amount of people that have said about how they moved from Lemmy World due to moderation over reach along with often being de-federated from other instances on bias' (I have no evidence of this, just comments from others to this post)

What's that policy? Very open or very closed?

Heard pretty good things about Piefed, never have been able to try it out myself yet but it's on the list of things to try out.

Always helpful to have instances that are local based even if they are still on the smaller side. If anything the better for the admins

So what makes lemmy.zip better than running your own instance? I know there's plenty of benefits for people joining things like Lemmy World if you want a very restricted environment but what does lemmy.zip have over running your own instance?

Having admins that tell you what's going on is so helpful. Also yes having a balance between online life and real life is really good to have. Well I still like having my servers there for me and others when it's needed it's nice to know you are finding a silver-lining in it sometimes going down for maintenance and other things.

@dsilverz@calckey.world What's the benefits of sticking with Calckey over something like Sharkey or another Misskey Fork? As from my research I can find Calckey has had 2 years since the last update to the code, is it even being maintained anymore?

Also agree with you fully, the features of a Misskey Fork is so amazing to have with the 3k character limit and utility with the custom emojis and other features are a god send.

Kbin had it's upsides but yeah glad Mbin is here to carry on it's legacy in some sort of way. Just sucks it doesn't connect with Mastodon and Lemmy apps as it'll solve some of the issues.

lemmy.world seems to be a good default at the moment.

That's a good combo, especially local content. Do you ever find the local content gets lost?
