A Tale of Two Kingdoms is a point-and-click adventure that easily feels like it could have come out in the early nineties, during the golden age of point-and-click adventures.

PEAK is my current favourite online co-op game to play with a good little crew, and now it fits a lot better on Steam Deck too thanks to updates.

Fork of Project64 with some extra features.
A Linux compatible alternative to 2.4 (Yes, it works on Windows too). It is not focused on accuracy or compatibility, but rather on functionality that improves the general gameplay experience on a select set of games. As such, it removes the nagware screen, and it contains the plugins that are necessary to play these games without issues.

MAME 0.279 is here at last! Building on the work in recent releases, this month you’ll get to see proper lighting and fixes for logic bugs in Sega Model 2 games. Philips CD-i emulation keeps improving as well, including better cursor behaviour and XA audio fixes this month. While we’re talking about things you can see, MAME now emulates the “snow” effect on early ZX Spectrum models caused by memory refresh cycles interfering with video RAM accesses. Graphical issues in various Konami and Irem games have been fixed, and there are noticeable improvements to graphics in some Namco System 23 games.

There’s been more work this month on support for NES-inspired chips from V.R. Technology, bringing some of these low-cost games closer to working. There are lots of improvements for emulated Macs, particularly the PowerBook Duo sub-notebooks, and fixes for a few issues with the Apple IIgs as well. The Casio FZ-1 and related sampling synthesisers now have preliminary sound output. The Sharp MZ-5500 computers are also starting to show some life, although emulation is far from complete.

As always, you can read about everything that changed this month in the whatsnew.txt file, and source code and 64-bit Windows binary packages are available from the download page.

I was also confused when I first read the synopsis. But I have not played the game so it's hard to say. I also not from the USA and there was not really crash here so I don't know how it was there. But I think you are not supposed no think about it too deeply. The video game crash is something talked about a lot by gaming youtubers, so I think most people have heard of it now even if they were not alive at the time of lived in the USA.

So I guess it is just a plot device that they used, to tell an alternative reality for arcade games history. Though I could be wrong.

This has been posted before here I missed it when I checked

It would be nice if all posts could be exported and imported into the new community.

!Bside@fedia.io Bside gaming has reached 172 subscribers. And I have made the fourth mega post .

!Bside@fedia.io an alternative gaming community is still growing slowly. There are now 141 subscribers. I keep posting regularly indie game news or links to games directly that seem to be interesting. Agent_Karyo helps a lot with posting on the community. Last Sunday I posted the third issue of the web zine, which is basically a mega-post with a collection of news, articles, top 10s, and more done in the style resembling an old gaming computer magazine.

No there is not really much of simulation in the game, you just casually put items on the map.

[–] falseprophet@fedia.io 1 points 8 months ago

Yes I think it is just a concept, how a Linux distribution for the public sector could look like.

[–] falseprophet@fedia.io 3 points 8 months ago

That would be nice, thanks.

!Bside@fedia.io My alternative gaming community has reached 96 subscribers, so close to 100. I wanted to explain a little a bit the reasons for making the community and what the difference is between other Indie gaming communities.

Before making this community, I searched for communities for "indie games" and found only one active on lemmy.ml, so I thought an indie gaming community that is not on .ml would be nice. My mistake was though that I did not search for "indie gaming," which made me misd the community on Lemmy.world, which I was pointed out to me later. But at that time I already had quite a few subscribers, and I had made many posts. So I did not want to close the community.

So I started trying to make it different from other Indie gaming communities. One thought I had even before finding out about indie gaming was to focus more on the smaller indie titles and Foss games. The Problem with that idea was I did not know where to draw the line; what should be considered a small indie game? In the end, I decided to drop the idea and allow all the indie games, but I personally would focus a bit more on titles that are somewhat smaller.

A difference that existed since the conception of the community was that I specifically allow NSFW content to be posted. Because I believe adult games are as much part of gaming as other games, and I think most apps and clients allow NSFW content blocking in case someone does not want to see it.

New recent changes I have made to differentiate it from other communities are that it is now allowed to post game mods and ROM hacks. Additionally, it allowed posting free or commercial links to game assets for others to use in their indie games that they are developing.

So in the end !Bside@fedia.io is an indie gaming++ community. So feel free to join if you think it is something for you.
