People started debating about why CSM is selling less with every new volume. We can’t control the market. The anime was great, but reception was mixed in Japan. Story has a different pace from P1. Social media told us that a story needs good numbers to be good.
As much as I’d like for it to be #1, it won’t stop me from enjoying it when it isn’t. We had a lot of pre-anime hype moments where it wasn’t on the first spot.
Maybe sales are an important metric, but I think Fujiwater cares more about the art than the numbers (see Fire Punch which dipped after a couple of volumes).
At a point I considered stopping from spamming this subreddit with news and posts, but then I realised I didn’t do it for Fujimoto or for myself, but for interacting and having fun with the community. At least I seem to have forgotten how much fun we had before the number brain rotting.
From my POV, I still love the series so much. It helped me get through a very acute depression phase. It was great having something to look forward to every week. So I’ll support my goat until the end. This is part of the reason why I import Japanese volumes. This and because they are smol af.
