That's fair. Frankly, asking for donations is a half-decent way of gauging interest in a project as a whole, and if there aren't enough people in the whole world willing to meet a threshold for support, maybe the mountain of effort required to maintain said project isn't worth it.

I'm sorry. My country is overrun with fascists and Nazis and I'm horrified by the threats to your nation's sovereignty that manchild of a president is making. He does not speak for me, and I appreciate that you would decide not to spend money in a country that's actively threatening your family.

You wouldn't go directly from country status to state. It would be from "country" to "occupied territory", to "state". My point is that we'd never leave the occupied territory stage.

I am a strong supporter of the EU, and won't sign this. This country is too xenophobic, fractious, reactionary, and delusionally self-important to let them back into the union when it's still reeling from the damage the UK caused just a few years ago.
If the UK is serious about rejoining, it will first have to stop treating EU membership like a glorified trade agreement and stepping stone to national power and influence. The EU needs community members and partners, not self-aggrandising parasites.
...let alone the rest of the EU. They'd be crazy to accept a UK petition for membership right now.
