Cape Town is a beautiful place!

In my case this behavior turned out to be an avoidant coping strategy for handling my fear of failure. If I don’t work on it, I can’t fail (or be judged on its end result), thus I’m safe. That’s level 1. Level 2 is to ask, why do I fear failure in hobby projects?

Another aspect is that because it’s all for fun, often the fun parts for me are the initial design and the process of figuring out that, yes this idea would totally work! The actual work of the implementation is the less fun part so I’m less interested in doing it.

TLDR: talk to a therapist about it, they can help you map out what’s happening, and by becoming self aware of the cause, you gain power over it.

I’ve done that before, it’s awesome! I put an fpv camera on the top of the tail and ran the cables all the way back to the transmitter. It’s wide enough that you can see the edges of the wings.

Hand launch but I would love a bungee, throwing it is stressful for me because I’m always worried I won’t get my hands back to the controls in time 😅

D’oh unit fail haha!

Just wait until you get into gliders! I have a 2000m powered glider and I have a hard time moving it around the house without bumping it into things haha

The orange and limes are semi-dwarf according to their tags but the lemon is full size 😅😅

Actually two are from Miner’s/Ace and the third from a local nursery :) Also love Costco though!

Wow what a great tip, thank you!!

We are the proud owners of a Valencia Orange, lime, and lemon tree!! I just repotted this one from the container it came in. Hopefully we’ll get some fruit this year?

I have an alarm clock / noise machine combo and I love it. I prefer a phone-free bedroom to reduce distraction opportunities. I also completely agree that phone wake-up sounds are just far too aggressive. All it takes for me to wake up is having it change from “brown noise” to “ocean waves” and I’m awake immediately.

I made this oscillator (programming.dev)

This is known as a Colpitts oscillator and I soldered this up last night after dinner. To my surprise it worked on the first try! With the component values I used it oscillates between 0.7-2.8V at a frequency of 1.28 MHz.

I think this was addressed explicitly on TNG even! IIRC there was an episode where a kid has ptsd thinking he caused his ship to wreck. It comes out that while the ship was shaking he pressed his forearm up against the panel for balance. One of the enterprise crew tells him at the climax he couldn’t have messed anything up because he’s not crew or something

I’d love a hitchhiker’s crossover where Marvin gets assimilated and his depression grinds the Borg to a halt

Made these for my wife :) She drew the board shape and asked me to make it look like a circuit board. Everything on there is actually functional because I couldn’t bring myself to put down random components.
