Because the fight itself is an inconvenience for the school. Also, they figure you probably asked for it at some point.

The name of the crime would be assault. Would you like a definition? ;)

100% agree she should not be charged as I believe it's 100% justified here, but to say you don't know what they would charge her with when it's pretty clear... That said, it should be understood that when someone does something that deserves a slap or a punch or a kick, while the person might be guilty of the crime, the justification means you do not pursue it. Like the father who catches the guy messing with his kid and he kills the guy. Yes it's Murder 2 but you don't charge him if there's a decent bone in your body. You help him get the body off his property so he can tend to his child.

I also agree the focus should be on the actual crime, the guy making CP of a minor. Even if he used technology to fake it. It's still portraying a child; ergo, it's CP. The focus should be on him being placed on a sex offender registry for however many years. But, it's Louisiana so who knows. The girl would have no rights, especially if she has dark skin.

ETA: First part is meant to be funny, not argumentative. Apologies if it came across that way! Agree with you, was trying to be funny.

I don't do this. If I see a paywall, I don't visit the site again.

The Verge recently went with paywalls... I just deleted the bookmark. It was never a very good site anyway. They blasted an Android phone for doing something new, and then praised Apple for doing the exact same thing. I forget what. We were calling them iVerge for a while after that. (It was not recently.) Even as an Apple guy, I could not respect that. But the content has been entertaining, so I kept going back. I definitely will not pay them for their content though.

And runs on Mac — probably anything that can use Java (so, not an iPhone/iPad). Keyboard shortcuts are different but otherwise, it works exactly the same.

God forbid they give us an official dark mode though! There is a hack, it doesn't survive reboots/updates though and the thing updates a few times a day... I stopped trying after doing it a few times.

But yes, Jd2. Usually you can throw a link at it and it will parse it and give you the file. Though on sites like OP asked for, they are almost always lo-res and watermarked.

I got tired of Windows pulling this shit with my 4th gen Xeon and 6th gen Core i7 (laptop) that, when they died, I replaced them both with Macs. Always wanted to be a Mac user. Now I am.

I know, "Apple isn't much better," but at least I can say I voted with my wallet. Just buying another PC, even if I could find one without a Windows license, and installing Linux, would not have been enough of a shift. Plus I feel I would have just came back to Windows anyway.

I think we should get the focus away from the "phone." Most people justify buying a smartphone by saying they "need a phone" but the phone app becomes the least used thing on it.

I like the term 'cyberdeck' from the Cyberpunk game. It's a bit... punk... but it more accurately describes what a phone is these days. It's more accurate to say it's a handheld personal computer. The iPhone is the easier example. It's a handheld Mac with a custom launcher and a cellular modem. It can be used as a phone, and it's a good one because it has FaceTime to fall back on. This is interesting because, technically speaking, an iPhone without a cellular connection can still call other iPhones over WiFi, via FaceTime. Of course, with Android as with iPhone, you can do the same with a lot of other networks. WhatsApp/Facebook can do it. Telegram can do it. I think Instagram can do it. I think Google has a platform that can do it. But you need a cellular network to call your grandmother's landline, though there are apps for doing that over VOIP (Voice Over IP) as well, so even then... not really.

So my dream Linux phone isn't a Linux phone, it's a handheld Linux PC that can make and receive phone calls.

As of when? My M2 (base) MacBook Air is not the fastest ARM computer in the world, but it's been able to play Cyberpunk since what, May? June? Whenever it came out on Mac. Though, the ARM port of Cyberpunk exists because of the Switch 2. Other ARM platforms just benefit from it.

Watched the first half of the video. The video does mention the M4 Mac mini, and the neat thing about M4 (they're up to M5 now) is that it supports ray tracing natively.

So whether you're on an iPhone, an Android phone, a Switch or Switch 2, a Mac, or a PC running ARM, it's long since past time to retire the notion that ARM means weak. It hasn't for a long time. It's still more power efficient than x86-64. It's a fine platform for browsing and casual work. For AI stuff and high end gaming, you might still want x86-64 for its power throughput, but ARM is getting very punchy for games. The last few generations of iPhone are very good for gaming, at least for rendering games. Jury's still out whether a 6.5" (average) touch panel is the best way to game (I think not). But the CPU/GPU are there. Android is catching up. And of course on the desktop you have more options. More room, better cooling. Macs are leading the charge in desktop ARM, but PC ARM is picking up, too, and Qualcomm is making some impressive hardware there as well.

Note that my M2 MacBook Air gets better performance than his rig. I get around 20-25FPS, but I get no traffic or pedestrians. They made some interesting compromises to make the game work. My M2 Pro Mac mini plays it a little better, but I'd just rather play on Xbox.

Well, a couple days ago there was a post about how Hitler may have had a micropenis and only one testicle. I don't think it made anyone more sympathetic toward him.

I don't think it would matter one bit if Trump's sexuality was anything but hetero. He's still a fascist and will be judged accordingly.

Funny, I don't even use The GIMP, and I think of it as "The GNU Image Manipulation Program" before I think of the BDSM meaning (or the handicap slur).

I'm weird. And probably the exception.

And those who care will pay the higher price and probably won't mind. I'm guessing most of them also won't be able to explain why it's not the same.

Some of them will just use the American made pasta.

Importing stuff is always higher.
