Oh no worries at all; living in NZ shipping is always an issue. I've also tried the forwarding thing in the past, maybe things have changed since but it was exorbitant. Its just assumed that I won't be able to get American or Euro made things. At least not without almost doubling the listed price with shipping. For the record I was only interested in the Macaroni, it's such an interesting weird design and I was curious if that handle would work. Please keep doing stuff like that!

Ah its a shame that its US only T^T But very cool seeing a new knife brand starting up, all the best with that

A child can leave Earth without looking back, but not an old man. Jules Pierre Mao might be a titan of the system, but his memories are tied to that rock. That is Earth's real gravity. - Chrisjen Avasarala.

Oh this is cool, didn't even know about this, thanks! I'm guessing its not something open to the public (to contribute to)?

I think you're missing a link?

I'm specifically meaning the traffic mapping and collaborative reporting side of Waze and Gmaps, I know navigation via Comaps is possible but I haven't seen anything that I can contribute to, to help others with time estimates etc.

What is stopping everyone from having the same birthday? I propose 1969-01-01

If you type into a search engine "roll a d8" it should do one for you - that way you don't have to buy anything

I'm in the same boat! Musicbee was my replacement for Winamp when that went away, and it did everything I wanted, tagging, podcasts, playlists. I still ajve it on my work PC, but I'm missing it at home. Thanks for making this thread, hopefully you find something that works

Oh no, this is the safe thing all over again, isn't it?

Just saw your edit - sounds like you're recommending instead of having one 4 bay NAS, to have 2x 2 bay NAS's to back each other up?

[–] Zurgo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hey thanks for the warning about the redundancy != backup - that is part of the plan in the future to build a smaller NAS off site, or even move this particular NAS off site if I find a willing host. Good point too about the wrong 2 drives failing stuffing the whole thing up. The process you're describing does sound doable but complicated. Is there any alternative setup you might recommend, or is that it if I go with RAID?

Ah JBOD is new to me, I'll have to look into it. Is there a free or FOSS recommended alternative to UnRAID?

I've bought a bunch of stuff from Cactus Outdoors over the years, but I'm finding that their cuts don't really fit me very well and are also a bit on the higher end price-wise. Love their bags though. Do you have any NZ-made brands that you can recommend?
