You can be a coffee achiever
You can sit around the house and watch Leave It to Beaver
The future's up to you
So what you gonna do?

Yes, and automatically follow JD Vance and Trump. Totally a bug /s

There's a typo in his post. He said "say up" instead of "stay up".

That's a really important point! I didn't think of that but I know Snopes does that. I updated the post to mention your suggestion.

So I'm an American and we have lots and lots of problems with money in politics but when I read this I was shocked:

The Reform UK party, a 2021 rename of the Brexit Party,[207] is a limited company (Reform UK Party Limited)[208] with fifteen shares. Farage owned 53% of the shares in the company, giving him a controlling majority. The other shareholders were Tice, who holds about a third, and Chief Executive Paul Oakden and Party Treasurer Mehrtash A'Zami who each held less than one percent.[209] In August 2024 Paul Oakden was removed and Farage took over his shares, giving him 60% ownership.[210] Reform UK is unusual in that British political parties are usually not corporate entities, but unincorporated associations comprising a leadership and a membership; Reform's paying supporters have no voting powers.[208]

I guess at-least they are honest it's a grift whereas here in the US the organizations are registered as non-profits. So does Farage directly make money from his corporation?

Yes, it's DARVO (deny, attack, and reverse victim & offender): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DARVO

It's not just because the car doesn't know where you're going. It's an intentional lie that Elon Musk specifically ordered. From the article:

The directive to present the optimistic range estimates came from Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk, this person said.

“Elon wanted to show good range numbers when fully charged,” the person said, adding: “When you buy a car off the lot seeing 350-mile, 400-mile range, it makes you feel good.”

Tesla’s intentional inflation of in-dash range-meter projections and the creation of its range-complaints diversion team have not been previously reported.

It will reduce demand for new Teslas. The people who sell their Teslas will buy a different brand and some people who still for whatever reason want to buy a Tesla will buy a used one instead of a new one.

I heard that Tesla lies about the range, it's lower than they say.

https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/tesla-batteries-range/

About a decade ago, Tesla rigged the dashboard readouts in its electric cars to provide “rosy” projections of how far owners can drive before needing to recharge, a source told Reuters. The automaker last year became so inundated with driving-range complaints that it created a special team to cancel owners’ service appointments.

If these instructions are risky for you of course don't do it.

For sure, I'd much rather people join Lemmy. I just figured might as well do everything we can to reduce how many people link to fake news and tabloid type website even on platforms we don't personally use/like. The less traffic those websites get the less ad revenue they get.

Twitter/X is horrible. I feel of all the large/mainstream (used to be mainstream) social media platforms it's the worst. We don't need to trust them to police themselves, reporting is now win-win because if they don't take down the reprehensible content you can use the evidence you collected to persuade your friends to leave Twitter/X. If you are lucky and it's the 1% of the time when they actually remove it that's good too because you just got some hate taken down.

This is especially powerful for people in the EU, I don't know how to do it but if their DSA reports don't get acknowledged perhaps it would be possible to send the screenshots to someone in the EU or their countries government and they could fine Twitter/X for violating the DSA.

In 2022 we learned that Biden called Rupert Murdoch the most dangerous man in the world. This article written in 2023 backs up Biden's assertion with lots of evidence. I know the article is slightly old but I haven't seen this posted here yet.

Here's an article about Biden calling Murdoch the most dangerous man: https://edition.cnn.com/2022/04/03/media/reliable-sources-biden-murdoch-fox-news/index.html

Paywall but basically he declassified stuff if it seemed to benefit Trump and although not mentioned in the article I'd assume hide stuff if it didn't. He also demanded loyalty to the Trump agenda when hiring and showed very clear partisan preferences.

Please call your senators and oppose the nomination of Kash Patel. https://www.senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm

Of course we should take Trump's threats seriously. For example one reason for Russia's invasion into Ukraine may have been to distract Russians from domestic issues like repression of their rights and a bad economy. So distractions can have real consequences but we must not forget about the things Trump wants us to forget like his crazy cabinet picks and the fact that he retracted his promise to lower grocery prices and the fact that he's going to possibly create a huge humanitarian crisis if he does a mass deportation.

I really hope this doesn't go through. When granting or revoking a power to/from someone ask yourself this question. How can this be abused if the other side gets it?

Note that I don't have a problem with anyone's immigration status except Musk's simply due to hypocrisy because he is railing against immigration when he himself is likely an illegal immigrant. I just think it's funny that conservatives always say that immigrants are ruining the country but they have the wrong people identified as the problem.
