What makes Piefed better over all? There is already massive fragmentation it seems to me. How would this move be better? If its simple answer of not liking the reputation of Lemmy devs why not find a new instance on Piefed? I'm asking this while agreeing with you, just trying to understand.

Maybe to put this a way that won’t make everyone mad.
“NFL tells teams players to not try and confuse things when reporting eligible.”
They tried to get cute and send 3 people for 1 person reporting. They succeeded in causing confusion just as they planned it just happened to be the ref that ended up confused.
Cosmos sounds kind of interesting, if I’m understanding correctly the vps only job would be the lighthouse. And the fact once they are connected they don’t have to go through the lighthouse anymore sounds good. However the cost to get to features is concerning to me, I don’t mind paying but I want to make sure it’s what I want first .
