No no our taxes aren't going to the ballroom... corporations are paying for the ballroom... our taxes are going into large government contracts for those corporations to thank them for paying for the ballroom. Basically the same thing, except the ballroom will have a price tag of 500 million to 1 billion by the end of it... but the perks for the corporations will almost certainly be at least double digit billions.

I kind of half get the concept, they don't want the precident to be say... if you are afraid of losing the election to an incumbent, send the FBI to raid their house. Publicly announce you are looking for child pornography and claim you'll announce the results after the election.

Something that whether trump runs again or not, and if there's another election is almost certainly going to happen (to protect the election for whoever is going to protect trump from his crimes after his presidency, whether that's trump, vance, one of his kids or whatever).

Same time there was fricking obvious cases here. It's not like fishing expeditions like trumps launching at his political opponents right now. and to top it off it doesn't even matter again because moderates are so worried about setting a precident that the other side can use to justify their horrific actions, without realizing that the extremists, don't give any fucks about precident. They'll cite it when they have it, but if they don't have it they will just steamroll ahead anyway.

I mean... I don't know shit about any other car manufacturers. If I were in the market for an EV, and the specs on a specific car sound best for my needs, and you tell me "Did you know the CEO of that car company, has a terrible personality, face, vibe and aura... I'd probably still buy the car.

If you tell me the CEO of that company did a sig heil, created a group to slash pediatric cancer research, helped get the orange cheeto elected, supports the US republican party and the far right german party, constantly tweets and agrees with great replacement theory posts....

Then yeah I'm not buying that car.

I mean where is it Cynical at this point... right now there's the massive redistricting that's going to give the republicans more house seats even if they get less votes. Trumps been "joking" about a 3rd term from the start. Millitary is literally marching on the streets.

The point isn't that we need to give up... but we need to realize they are re-writing the rules.. Big thing is... just let them have their fun and when it kills them in the next election stance that the democrats took last time, is going to destroy us. We need to look at every possible way to fight back NOW, and have contingencies for when all of our existing failsafes... fail.

So in short... they are worried that ICE isn't going fast and loose enough, and we need to brace for a massive increase in US citizens getting flown off to other countries.

If you are below quota and it's 4:00, just grab a random 4 people off the street. Numbers are the most important thing.

and of course the other crappy part of numbers is the same problem of the IRS. Actual MS13 members, or whatever gangs etc... can't be picked up at home depot, or outside the courthouses, or on construction job sites or cleaning their hotels etc... Finding them takes actual detective work... which is very time consuming. So ironically the only effects of immigration that WON'T be cleaned up by this push... is actual criminals.

It's just like the problem the IRS has... IE the overwhelming majority of money being cheated by taxes is being done by... well trumps friends. But, those guys can afford big dollar accountants and lawyers, they can shuffle their money around in so many complex ways that it takes massive time to catch up, so the IRS has to instead put focus on individuals and small businesses that if they are cheating it's small amounts but mostly it's probably small mistakes.

Well yeah it is all drawback no advantage for canada itself... but was pointing out that anything even close to a fair attempt at a merger, also would go horrific for trump and maga. IE a fairly represented 50 million people would certainly blow the lid off of what any election that's even trying to be fair on... would look like for them. In short, trump wouldn't want a deal with canada that actually gave canadians representation in the US government.

In short, it's not just the insult of trying to buy or take something that isn't for sale... it's doing it with effectively nothing to offer.

If they were going to do it... it shouldn't be the 51st state... it should be the

51-60th state... and worth about 85 electoral college votes...

I think it would be funny to watch trump back down REAL fast if they made the offer "OK we'll do it, if we get instant imidiate representation. have the house of representatives immidiately expanded to include proportional representation for canadians... add another 20 senate seats... and a re-do of the presidential election as an instant fix as well.

Admitted I'd fully aknowledge the risk to canada of making themselves shittyer to deal with our fucked up politics... on the other hand with 10 more sane states we could theoretically make a better country, and prevent the republicans from having control ever again.

I mean that's basically the setup we have here as well. Problem isn't that... well duh if you consent to your picture being on the internet this happens... The problem is, this genie is out of the bottle. For now Sora is, kinda half assed attempting to follow a "only use real people that have consented". We already know, if it isn't codified into law... these things will be adapted by companies that don't care about the rules... and existing companies will also be more generous of what they can consent to etc...

IMO I don't think they've worked the model beyond "this still works for the next quarter". IE it's mainly betting on, other companies paying enough that their workers can buy their products. But of course if their methods are working those companies will be less profitable and thus either go out of business or be aquired.

or perhaps the government assisting the people with food stamps etc... which of course they are voting to cut to give themselves bigger tax cuts.

The only possible way this has any long term capacity is if this is a short term game that they intend to massively change when they hit a certain point and all competition is completely out of the market. IE all industries move into a seperate monopoly, and then just become their own government.

I don't think they are really thinking that far ahead though. economy works on short term numbers, and they are just doing what's best for them until the next quarter, without considering that 5 years down the line they could be destroying themselves.

Degrees Celsius is based on freezing and boiling point of water, so if they came up with a base 10 numbering system and water is key to their biology, then they’d probably come up with that.

Waters boiling point isn't a constant though... it's dependent on the atmosphere.

Hell there's also no telling if our preference to base 10 is relative to our number of fingers so neither of those are givens.
