There's also the concern that if support for Israel is dropped, an Iran-led coalition will go to war with them. Israel being attacked is unimaginable to a lot of people that grew up in the shadow of ww2.

Huh, i just realized orienting it vertically like this fixes one of the biggest issues with Sankey plots, which is fitting in the text annotations.

A lot of people don't know you literally can't fly your F35s without the American's permission. They hold the encryption keys you need to load a mission plan into the plane's computers, which is done by American personnel deployed with the aircraft.
