I'd be lying if I said I didn't wish my legs looked that good in a dress.

Back in basic, almost every black person in my division got what was called a "shave chit" which was basically just a piece of paper saying "this recruit doesn't have to shave every morning for medical reasons"

And having seen them try in the first week or so to shave with everyone else, yeah. Fuck shaving every day anyway, but why would you purposely force someone to essentially slice their face off little by little wherever hair grows???

I remember my mother taking me into a store when I was a child where people were striking.

I asked why they were yelling since I couldn't read the signs. I was told "because they're lazy and think they should be paid more than people like your father"

It was many years before I understood what they were mad about, and that they do NOT believe they should be paid more, they believe everyone should be paid more but they only have control over their own employment.

Nowadays whenever I see employees striking, I give them a little fist out the window and a meep meep and shop somewhere else.

Don't cross picket lines, your nacho cheese or deodorant can be bought somewhere else. Bonus points if you call the employer to inform them that you are shopping elsewhere until their employees conditions have been met and they decide to end the strike.

Reservations? You mean that thing rich people have their assistants make for restaurants?

Once the lands get sold to corporations for mining/drilling/whatever, they'll decide you were always native to a south American country.

You will have nothing and they will expect thanks.

Is it fasting if it's involuntary? I haven't eaten breakfast or lunch and it's partly because I wasn't hungry and partly because I had to go to the store to have enough food to make something.

Either way, that's 2 meals skipped from me, I assume Utah is underwater now?

I live on a property with multiple families and we just use one delivery box by the main driveway.

Since this past week was in the 90s, I started leaving out a cooler with ice and bottled water/a few colors of gatorade and a couple snacks in a small basket next to it.

So far, no driver has taken anything, even with a "PLEASE TAKE ONE!" sign on top.

It's too hot to work outside without all the water you can drink, electrolyte flavor packs, and bare minimum a giant-ass fan. And no, having no doors doesn't count as having a fan.

As someone who likes to break into things (legally, with permission, blah blah blah) I can assure you that no amount of locks will keep a determined individual from something, especially if they know the schedule of the people they're concerned about and if they have an effectively unlimited time with the thing they're breaking into.

Locks will deter, not prevent, theft or unwanted handling. If there's a way to access it, it is accessible to anyone with time and intent.

I like picking locks and even if I don't have the skill for a certain lock, I've opened them by accident just by trying over and over. I just needed time.

A gun safe by itself is not enough.

A locked door is not enough.

I know someone who used to take the firing pins out of every firearm, which would then be in a locked box in a floor safe under his bed. Guns in a locked safe, with a locked closet and locked room door. That was when he had nieces and nephews that came over a few times a month. Once he had his kids, the guns went to storage at his dad's house. His reasoning? He used to steal alcohol from his parents cabinet as a teen and they tried many many times to make it harder but he always managed to get to it. "I always found a way, so could my daughter"

My own firearms have cable locks through the chambers, they're locked in a keyed safe, and the safe is in a locked closet. The only copy of the safe key that isn't either on me or my wife is in a hollowed out 2x4 that looks like it's part of the ceiling in my attic just in case I ever lose my key but need into it.

I don't have kids so I'm not concerned with someone who has a lot of time on their hands, but never underestimate how determined someone can be when they're told "you aren't allowed in there"

All of this is basically to say "the only way you're keeping someone permanently away from the guns in your house is to NOT HAVE GUNS IN YOUR HOUSE"

Unrelated,

which was in my person at all times.

Sorry the phrasing just gave me a giggle.

Well, at least in my state, we ALL own the road, since we all* pay taxes. YOU get 1/5000000th of the road, YOU get 1/5000000th of the road !

So yes, you partially own the road, but SO DO I MOTHERFUCKER. Me being on a bicycle changes nothing.

Local city is doing fireworks at 10pm.

I'm too old for this shit, just don't wake me up.

My Christian relatives are big fans of the Bible, supposedly.

I believe there's something in there about "from dust we were made, to dust we return" (paraphrased) so it would even be biblical, as long as we dry and pulverize the fertilizer!

This is sounding better and better. I do want a much bigger garden so I can grow more of my own food...

Well depending on your diet, that square could have been fertilizer, so I'd say it was considerably more valuable than any claims made by ICE.

Don't undersell your own shit.
