Mullvad is €5 a month for total of €60 for a year.

Save up then torrent. If you live in the US you risk way more in fines than what €60 for a year of VPN would cost.

Save your lunch money for however long it takes to be able to buy a year of VPN like Mullvad in your country.

You aren't paying for your internet so you'd be an asshole to put the account holder under scrutiny for torrenting without protection. Especially when they are also covering your rent, elecricity, gas, food, clothing, etc. Don't be a selfish asshole.

If you can't get VPN don't be entitled and go off torrenting because other people say it is fine. You aren't paying for internet so you don't get the privilege to decide if it is fine or not.

Best time to buy Nintendo hardware is after the announcement of a hardware exploit.

Would installing Windows 11 LTSC and then running massgrave to activate it be the easiest way to get the least bloated version of Windows 11 that will have you not having to worry about stuff like Cortana, recall, ads, preinstalled apps returning in future updates?

All the other versions of Windows 11 seem like a constant cat and mouse of trying to get Windows 11 to what ltsc already is of debloated Windows 11 without all the extra crap.

Got to be realistic though and realize not everyone can cut everything cold turkey, and those who attempt to do it and fail are more likely to slip back and directly go back to monetarily funding it again.

Piracy in that case is the lesser or two evil and more realistic for most people with not everyone in it for ideological belief of moving towards all things anti American but financially denying direct contribution as they used to do.

Calibre is fantastic software for loading books not from Amazon on to the kindle completely bypassing Amazon, and you can permanently leave your Kindle in airplane mode to not let Amazon collect data on you.

Also, side bar on !piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com has a nice megathread that provides info on getting ebooks that might not be available to purchase outside of Amazon. Which you can then send you your Kindle with calibre.

Piracy is moral now! Not that I cared when it was considered immoral haha. Check out the side bar for the megathread to get started.

Even if they don't stick around they probably know that the days of reddit allowing stuff like piracy and rom resources is coming to a close, so even them just seeing lemmy as a fallback plan to keep in mind is a positive move in the long run.

Yep it's been perfect. I'm very happy with this instance and communities.

Piracy is timeless.

Finding that torrent sometimes don't download at all despite seeders being present, so having to look around.

I had seen ivpn recommended before, but they don't allow port forwarding anymore.

I've been using mpc with madvr for years, and the upscaling setting for stuff that isn't 4k.
