Finns as well. You could probably take a friend and form a 2 person queue on the sidewalk and after a while you'll have other people joining the queue too. Add free plastic buckets and the queue goes around the block.

more of a buying opportunity than a selling opportunity

Probably. At the very least, the time to sell has long passed. However, since this crash isn’t due to any fundamental flaw in the markets but rather a reaction from spooked investors to the actions of a single person, I’d say there’s a good chance we’ll rebound almost as quickly as we fell.

In Finland, yeah. I believe Finns also have below average amount of lactose intolerance. Ability to drink milk is how our ancestors survived over the winter.

I've heard that drinking milk during meals is weird to some people.

If I get a call to my private number and it's not someone from my contacts there's over 99% chance that it's a telemarketer.

However, to address your question wether any of them are legit - well ofcourse. You've probably called people too that don't have you in their contacts. I know that for example the police in my country always call you from an unknown number.

My thinking is that LLMs are human-like enough that mistreating them can be a strong indicator of someone’s character. If you’re comfortable being cruel to something that closely resembles a person, it suggests you might treat actual people poorly too. That’s why I think the premise of the TV series Westworld wouldn’t really work in real life - you’d have to be a literal psychopath to mistreat those human-like robots, even if you know (or are pretty sure) they’re not conscious.

I don’t think people need to go out of their way to be overly polite to an LLM - we can be pretty confident it doesn’t actually care - but if I saw someone’s chat history and it was nothing but them being mean or abusive, that would be a massive red flag for me personally.

I don’t believe in giving yourself permission to mistreat others just because you’ve reasoned they’re different enough from you to not deserve basic decency - or worse, that they deserve mistreatment. Whatever excuse you use to “other” someone is still just that - an excuse. Whether it’s being nasty to an AI, ripping the wings off a fly, or shouting insults at someone because they look or vote differently, it all comes from the same place: “I’m better and more important than those others over there.” Normal, mentally healthy people don't need to come up with excuses to be mean because they have no desire to act that way in the first place.

I don’t adopt views wholesale - I evaluate each issue on an individual basis, so my views tend to be a mixed bag. From a political standpoint, most people would probably see me as an unreliable ally as my views can be hard to predict. While I agree with many, if not most, “left-wing” ideas, there are still plenty of others that would get me labeled as a Nazi MAGA Republican.

That said, on Lemmy I’m definitely in the minority when it comes to holding certain beliefs that many would label “right-wing,” even though on other issues I can out–left-wing even most leftists.

Word of mouth works for someone with an already established customer base but I can't even imagine how I could have gotten my business going when I started a year ago without ads. That's how 99% of my customers found out about me. This is physical flyers though - I don't do online advertising except for maintaining a some kind of social media presence for my business.
